What about a poor man's Nic Batum comparison? Slightly less athletic, and Batum probably has him by a bit on 3 pt shooting also.
I've heard that Batum is his floor.

The reason why the Otto Porter stuff passes the smell test a lot better than the Barnes talk did was because Porter tests out great in the college stats that are predictors of NBA success, while Barnes was a mixed bag. And there's that whole team player, plays well off the ball, rebounds, well rounded skill set too.

No one are seems sold on Porter. His biggest weakness is one of the necessities to be very good in the NBA. Without the ability to create shots his production will likely be a mixed bag on this young team and going forward.

Is prefer they pass on him.

Len has my vote . Biggest upside, fills a need, and seems to have the requisite skill set to succeed in the NBA.

I feel like we can get more guys like Porter down the road and at a cheaper cost then a top 5 pick, than we are to find guys like Len. I see the fit for Porter, but he doesnt wow me. I still think if we get a bad position in the lottery we will make moves.

On a team with Waiters and Irving, do we need another player whose strength is creating his own shot?

can we all please stop with the cavs are unpredictable stuff? is clear they use some sort of formula very similar to the one hollinger was using. if someone has an idea of where to find that formula and break down all of the current draft. or can find a website that uses it you can pretty much nail which players the cavs are targeting.

This is one of the most important skills in the game of basketball imo, even more so when the player has proven to be a wiling passer as it not only creates for them but for their teammates as well.

Also Porter would enable half court sets that started with him in point forward role allowing KI and DW to play off ball at the same time a few times a game.

Agree but they also seem to strongly favor hardworkers. Unless the talent/numbers are overwhelming (Irving) they really do their homework with interviewing people around the players such as coaching staff, other players, opposing coaching staff to look at work ethic. Tristan and Dion fit this formulat to a tee:

Cavs draft board = advanced metrics + gym rat likelihood

I agree on taking Len over Porter. I feel Gee's defensive intensity will shine under Brown, and that there is still the potential to hit on a SF in the draft at 19.

The ability to create a shot would be fine. What we don't need is someone who dominates the ball. We either need a defensive-minded center or a small forward who can move without the ball and hit shots. Basically, Noel or Porter, although I'd be fine with Len as well, and I'd live with Bennett even though he doesn't really fit a need (I just think he's going to be a great pro).

It's been easier to get a wing prospect late in the draft than a center in the past few drafts. In this draft I'd say the talent is stacked moreso towards the center position. We'll more than likely be able to get a center prospect around 19 with so many centers entering the draft. I'm not ruling out a center with the 4th pick, just think it's more likely we take a wing first and a center later. With developmental big men I'd rather miss at 19 than at 4.

You just don't know with our front office. They can be quite unpredictable. We usually don't find out who is the strongest suitor till days leading into the draft thanks to a few insiders. I'm pretty sure Ford said the same thing about us liking Barnes. Everybody had us linked to Barnes for the longest time.

Not saying this doesn't have any merit because I like Porter much more as a prospect over Barnes.
Those of us who closely follow the draft should be aware your point..no matter whom the Cavs are linked to, a odd name will pop up a few days or a week prior to the draft..usually reported by Windy or one of the beat writers. A name that sparks a lot of controversie in here.

Waiters name did that as did Thompson's.
So thats when we'll get a clue who their target is.
And Ford and "sources" won't be the ones to know.
Hmmm since Mike Brown is back, there could be some interesting things to develope..look for someone with above average defensive skills.
