Camby actually shot the ball. The vast majority of Noel's FG attempts were dunks! Not the same thing.
Dunks, tips, and bunnies count just as much as 12 footers. Camby was not, either in college or the pros, a reliable finisher at the rim. That's an
important skill for a big man who is going to down low grabbing offensive boards. And that shooting percentage was actually worse his senior year.
Before the injuries Camby was a freakish athlete as well. I'm not even a Camby fan, just saying I have seen nothing to indicate that Noel will ever be anything more than a pogo stick.
Camby didn't have Noel's quickness even before his injuries in the pros. At least, not to my eyes. But look, if the point is "well, Camby never reached his offensive potential because of those injuries that sapped his quickness", then that's part of the whole debate on Noel's
upside. If he doesn't have those same injuries, then maybe he becomes what Camby might have become had he not suffered those injuries.
Again, the point isn't "this is what I think Noel will be". The point was "what is his potential
upside", and given that he's no less physically gifted than Camby was (and I do think he's got better/quicker hand, and is somewhat ambidextrous), his potential
upside should be higher than Camby's. His downside, obviously, is being
worse than Camby.
