Greg Monroe

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I heard the same criticism of al jeff, but he has transformed the cats. I am not certain monroe is the best plan, but we could do worse. As for defensive numbers, Tyson Chandler was once a great defender, but playing for the knicks, not so much. I think it would challenge any big to guard the paint when the perimiter is defended by brandon jennings...

Tyson Chandler is still a defensive presence around the rim for the Knicks, Monroe/Jefferson aren't in the same stratosphere as Chandler on that end of the court. Larry Sanders was 1st or 2nd in the league in blocked shots playing with Brandon Jennings, Monroe is just not a shot blocker.

Monroe makes Al Jefferson look like Hakeem the Dream on both ends of the court

I'm interested if Griffin would even go after a post player. If Griffin has a choice between Hawes, and Monroe I think he sticks with Hawes. He's at least shown to fit here when Irving was playing off him. Brown has been so detrimental to post players, and with the bynum debacle I don't think you could trust brown getting the most out of monroe.

Or Kyrie Irving..

28, and 14 for Monroe against the bucks. Do not want.

Jordan Hill had 28 and 16 against the Bucks last week

I don't think you could blame Brown for Bynum this year. Also when he was in LA Bynum had a great year, so he can coach bigs.

Monroe is not a Griffin player. Be surprised if he signs him.

Before I even saw your post, I was about to post this exact same thing. Jefferson is better on both ends, but this board DETESTED the idea of the Cavs going after Jefferson last year.

I'm sure everyone around here would really hate having 22 & 11 in the post.

That being said, I admit that I haven't actually watched Monroe. Not even advocating we sign him... but the Jefferson situation seems comparable.

Not comparable to the Jefferson situation at all. Monroe is not even close to the same caliber player.

To be honest, Jefferson still wouldn't be a good fit here. Mainly because we don't have enough talent on the rest of the roster for him to make a real difference.
