Terrance West - Traded to Titans

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
RE pass blocking... I realize pass rushers are as big, fast, and athletic as they've ever been and QBs definitely get hit, but the rules are so out of control in favor of protecting them that I really wonder if Johnny's durability is as much of a concern as people think.

Do we need to protect him and does he need to be smart about when he takes off? Of course, but the way the game is called now, I like his chances of staying healthy. Plus he's tough as they come.

*On topic: Really like this West kid. Good feet for being 225-230lbs.

Honestly with today's rules, I would almost be starting to get more concerned, as far as durability goes, about quarterbacks like Tom Brady who seems to have issues with his knees and ankles every season because the rush is rolling up on his legs 10-15 times a game...

There's a 15 yard penalty even if a defender sniffs a QB's ankles all thanks to defenders rolling up onto Tom Brady. Today's rules have swung squarely in favor of protecting QBs and WRs, it's basically touch football with QBs in the pocket. Don't touch their helmet or their ankles, don't lead with your head, don't drive them into the ground.

When QBs leave the pocket they expose themselves to much more frequent and violent collisions. Especially QBs that invite contact rather than running out of bounds. I love me some Johnny, but I'm much more worried about him missing a game compared to a Manning brother or Tom Brady.

Notes today from Terrance West:

West is an honest and candid guy. When asked about if the media is overhyping Manziel Mania, West said no. “Johnny Manziel is special. He makes plays. That’s what you want on your team.”

The Ravens texted West’s agent and told him they were going to take the running back with the 99th pick, which speaks to the craftiness of general manager Ray Farmer. The Browns snuck in and plucked the Baltimore product.

“We can be powerful,” said West on the combination he and Ben Tate could form.

"Some of the greatest players to ever play the game came from small schools,” West said about coming from Towson.

Really think West is going to have a big year. Mostly because I doubt Tate can stay healthy.

God what if we just picked up our version of Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith? What if...
