Gordon suspension reduced to 10, 12 if convicted of DWI

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Over/Under 2 months before Gordon's next weed related arrest... give me the under.

Why the heck did it take this long for the NFL to decide? He can't even attend training camp next year as well, and he won't be able to go to the facility during the suspension.

I fail to see how blaming the guy who was a multiple, multiple offender of the league rules makes me stupid. Before the Rice ruling everyone said he deserves what he gets and now they're mad since it looks like our season is already in the crapper waiting to be flushed.

It is stupid to blame ONLY Gordon. The issues are separate. He is to blame for being suspended. The NFL is to blame for making a fucking mockery of this garbage. Nine month appeal process? For what people are calling a PIPE DREAM (shortened sentence)!?

This isn't a first for the NFL either. Aldon Smith did worse shit and we are still waiting on that ruling.

They aren't supposed to make harder for their player and teams, they just took a bad situation and made it worse. He obviously deserves what he gets, does he deserve to have it delayed that much? Maybe... Does the team deserve it!? No. There is no reason to have left the team in such darkness.

This is some bullshit. What a joke the NFL is. Take it to the supreme court! Let him play!

Edit: Miles Austin and Nate Bureleson? Defenses will put 8 in the box and destroy us. This is going to be a long season.

First Braxton and now this. Fuck football.

I was gonna buy Sunday Ticket this year too. Fuck that shit!

NBA in 2 months!

A guy is missing an entire NFL for weed. Weed.

Meanwhile another guy knocked his girlfriend out cold, drug her out of an elevator and he will be playing in week 3. Seems reasonable.

Throwing Gordon's stupidity out of it, these things aren't equal....nor logical.

A player missing an entire year of his career on a technicality. He tested positive for literally a trace amount of weed on ONE of his A/B samples. The other was under. To miss an entire season of your career on that is complete and utter bullshit, regardless of the player or team.

Lets be realistic. This is his 3rd failed drug test in the nfl on top of the drug issues in college. So he is a multiple offender. Further, since he failed the drug test he got pulled over in a vehicle with weed in it and had a DUI. Its not just smoking weed, its a habitual drug offender.

SO while i am not defending Ray RIce, Gordon got what he deserved for being a major idiot. Its just a shame that the most talented Browns player is also a flaming ass hat.

So how long until the NFL lightens the penalty for smoking weed but doesn't retroactively apply the shortened penalty to guys currently suspended? One month? Two? We all know it's going to happen.

And maybe they should add something to their rule book about guys knocking out their girlfriends and dragging their unconscious bodies across a hotel. Seems plenty of that happens too.

Anyway... this year is in the shitter.

We're the Browns. This year was in the shitter since before last year ended.

The team was laughably bad with Josh Gordon last year, and that's with a worse team.

In the grand scheme of things, Gordon could be gone and the team could still be better than last year. Just need competent QB play and a good running game. No, we aren't making the playoffs, but to write off the season because of this is stupid.

We dont have competent QB play. We dont have competent WR play. And we dont have competent DB play outside of Haden.

Team is trash

We don't know why it was delayed, but I'd bet my left nut that the delays were primarily due to actions on Gordon's end. It's just the way these things work. I'm sure the NFL would be fine with including a suspension notice with the test results, and having an appeal two weeks later. It's the players and their union who don't want that.

What happens is that the NFL notifies Gordon of the test result. Then Gordon's people start bombarding the league with all sorts of written questions/demands to gather information to fight what they know is a looming suspension. They'd want to know every last detail about that lab, testing by other labs used by the NFL, the people who actually did the testing, their CV's, certification, the specimen handling, etc. etc. etc. It's their job to dig up every last possible bit of information that might help him, and that take time. It would involve asking for information, receiving and reviewing it, then asking for more. Multiple times.

And then, before the NFL decides on a punishment, his lawyers are going to want the right to submit a written statement and evidence in support, including "mercy" type arguments. They'll want time to prepare for that as well, it's got to fit on all the lawyers' calendars, etc..

So then the NFL makes a decision on the suspension, and now we have an appeal with more of the same. Probably more information, more time to prepare written submissions, more time to prepare for the actual hearing, and then getting it all on everyone's calendars. More months get burned.

Unless Gordon's lawyers jump in and start claiming that the delay was primarily due to NFL foot-dragging, I'm guessing they understand why it took so long too, and won't complain.
