Corey Brewer Traded to Houston

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know a 3 and D is needed but am I the only one who thinks a defensive anchor and the paint is a little more important? Especially with the increasing minutes from Harris and Delle coming back from injury soon.

Brewer is a No-3 and D guy. He can't shoot a lick but he is pretty athletic and he'd immediately be able to contribute defensively.

I was kinda hoping Brewer would be added in to the Kevin Love deal but now that we have Marion I dont see the point. He'd be nice depth, but I dont see him providing anything that Marion doesn't already.

Brewer really should have been part of the original deal. I'm not keen on giving up significant additional assets for him (i.e. any type of 1st rounder).

But he would be a nice addition because he plays well off Love, is a good locker room guy, and could help us defensively.

I watched some tape of the guy and he did a nice job even on quick PG's like CP3. So we could use him in alot of ways and he could play both SG/SF.

I am torn on acquiring Brewer. He would be a great to start at sg and his d would be huge on that end, but his outside shooting would be difficult in our offense and I don't know if he would be happy being the 4th or 5th option on offense.

He is used to putting up 10 or 11 shots a game, and here he might average only 5 or 6 and his minutes would be about 22-25 or so a game with dion getting much of the sg minutes.

They were teammates in Dallas when they won the title. I could see it working here as well.

I think we should be patient with this. Make a reasonable offer and don't get into a bidding war. Something even better may come along in Jan/Feb.

His shooting doesn't really fit with the way the rest of team is constructed. Especially with Harris with coming on and when Delly returns, we would seem to have options in the 1, 2, and 3 spots who can provide good shooting with adequate or better defense. He seems more like a good insurance policy if one our guys gets hurt and we need some perimeter defense. Not sure I want to give up too much for an insurance policy

I just worry that getting a guy like Brewer takes away minutes from guys like Dion, Harris, and Delly. He'll definitely make us better, no question. But I'm not sure how much difference it will make if Dion and Harris continue to improve in their roles. Just a thought, tho. I see all of the other sides to the argument.

The more I think about it, the less I want a guy that is an awful shooter. Cant afford having a guy left wide open while his defender clogs the paint or doubles LeBron.

You're right. My fault on that dont even know why I said that. But back to my original question. He an above average defender, who is athletic, and has some chemistry with Love but shouldn't we be more focused on adding a defensive anchor especially with Harris playing well and Delle coming back?

The only reason I can see this is the chemistry part with Love and maybe take some minute off of LeBron.

I'm pretty happy with Marion at SG... he is has plenty left in the tank and moves great without the ball and is smart out there.. Brewer is very athletic but don't see how all these guys get enough minutes.. having Marion.LBJ,and Brewer all on the court at the end of games would be a huge plus though .. especially vs SA,CHI, or LAC if you have LBJ guarding the PG

With the way we are playing defense, he would be a welcome addition, if we don't have to give up too much.

He's lengthy...athletic enough to cover PG's...big enough to cover SF's. He'd add that much versatility to us on defense.

A rim protector is still a big priority but Brewer would make us better defensively immediately, allowing for more defensive-focused lineup tinkering, which i want to continue to see throughout the season.

If we Cavan trade cash for a player he'd be a perfect fit

Lineup of Kyrie Brewer marion Lebron love would be able to do anything a coach could ask for
