Corey Brewer Traded to Houston

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's not the point though. You act like we will be the ones making the pick with that Memphis pick. It is going to be traded the same way that that even more harshly protected Sacramento pick was traded. With a large non-guaranteed deal to a team looking to clear cap. We can get something far more valuable than Corey fucking Brewer with that.

We have other assets that can yield more than the MEM pick like Haywood, Dion, TT. With our cap situation you can't expect a big contract like Deng had to come from that pick. Not when you'll have Kyrie, Lebron, and Love maxed out with Andy at 10mil per. I know some people want to get the most value out of that pick but our roster isn't set up to do that.

I forgot you are one of those posters here who really believes Dion and Tristan are going somewhere. Good chance they aren't. As for Haywood, who do you think is that "large non-guaranteed contract" I mentioned. As others have alluded to, he is going to be combined with that pick this off season for a valuable player or players for the reasons you just listed...we won't have the cap to outright sign impact players, be we sure as hell can trade for them.

I think Philly disagrees with you. Houston too. Anyway, if another team that can offer Minny financial relief wants Brewer (like Houston, which has its TPE from the Lin trade), you are going to have to provide a sweetener, and if it's not a second round pick or two, what else are you going to include? The Memphis pick? The 2018 first round pick? Dion Waiters? That's pretty much what you have to work with.
I'm hoping a salary dump and/or TPE gets it done. A second rounder may sweeten the deal for a competing bidder, but I don't think it sweetens the pot drastically.

Well, they could be thinking that Haywood will continue to round into form. Or they could be thinking about Okafor as a possibility. (Remember, it was reported this summer that the Cavs, among many other teams, had made inquiries, but that Okafor at that time wasn't ready to sign, or probably more likely didn't feel another team would actually sign him. They could always also wait on the buy-out market later in the year.

The thing though about this mythical "rim protector" is that he would have to be better than one of their top 3 bigs to get minutes.

What it tells me is that Blatt's minute allocations are not purposeless, and he does not trust Miller or James to play meaningful minutes.

I don't think better is the right word to use, A player like McGee or Sanders aren't necessarily better than Andy but they do provide something both Andy and K-Love don't and something we are sorely lacking.

Your point about Miller and Jones is good, they have not been contributing at all so far this season but then again, did we expect them to this early? I think it was MoFlo or Keyes who pointed out that both Miller and Jones aren't here to produce now they're here to start getting into their rhythm around mid-january.
Brewer would still be a great pick-up though, we're admittedly lacking in perimeter defense off the bench now that Marion is starting and it doesn't hurt that he has a good raport with K-Love either.

The first pick in the 2019 draft<< Player who can be a key contributor to winning titles in the 4 season before that draft

Not really. We can win a title without Brewer (that's not saying he wouldn't contribute if acquired), the key is sustaining the championship contender pedigree as the years go by and continuously adding talent to the core, something Miami wasn't able to do at all.

Does it have to be a 1st round pick? Or can we combine an exception with a 2nd rounder. I wouldn't give up a 1st rounder for Brewer. But I don't mind using the exception to get him because I doubt we could get any real impact centers for just an exception anyway.

One of them doesn't want a reduced role(Dion) and the other wants too much money(Tristan). I like many others think one of if not both won't be with us long term.

What exactly could a trading team do to convince Brewer not to pick up his player option? He's not under any obligation to make that choice or make his intentions known at this point.

It sounds like a trading team needs to decide whether acquiring Brewer this year is worth committing to the contract (or trying to trade it before) next year.

I'm thinking Dion and or Tristan will be key to adding talent to our core. I think they could give us more in a trade than they can give us with how our roster is set up.

Why would Brewer waive a player option that is worth $4.9M to him? For the chance of going to a contender? Hard to believe he is that motivated to get out of Minny, where he has played most of his career.

EDIT: This is almost certainly Houston's condition since there are salary cap implications for them next summer. Can't imagine it would matter to the Cavs. If Houston won't take on 2015-16 salary, that may take them out of contention in this deal.

Please, enlighten me where Dion has made a fuss about coming off the bench the last few weeks. And neither are going anywhere, regardless of money or role conflicts that some people have hard on for, for the sheer fact of not ending up like Miami who was devoid of young players. And even if they do leave, it sure as hell isn't happening this year, so again, why trade the Memphis pick for Corey Brewer and sacrifice a key piece to long term success when it can be used combined with Haywood this off season or down the road in the lotto? Like talking to a wall...

In our distant past, there was a management team that used to share your outlook on draft picks. They are well in the future. Let's try to address some needs now. Short sighted thinking like yours is why we lost out on James "Fuck'n" Worthy. Mr Stepien, is that you?

Not saying I wouldn't trade the pick in the right trade. But, trading a first round pick that becomes unprotected at one point for what might only be a one year rental of Mr Brewer? You've got to be out of your mind.

Other teams are scared off by Dion's attitude even if he is misunderstood. I don't think we could get rid of him and get close to the production on the court back that he brings. Unless its a blockbuster of course.

TT isa guy I imagine many would like to have but I do feel he has a key part of this team going forward

And you know this piece of information how? Are you a GM?
