The Andre Drummond Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's 21 and that's what 21 year olds do. If you had an IG or SnapChat you'd see that people do this all the time. Not a big deal.

I literally disagree with your post citing that picture as evidence that he's dumb. I thought it was inaccurate and disrespectful. I used the function exactly as it was intended. Please stop crying to me about your rep...

I find it rather disappointing that you find absolutely nothing wrong here. I don't care that he is only 21. I don't care that you think it is common for others his age to do this. Frankly, I don't think it is quite as common as you claim. He was going 96 miles an hour, not 70 or 75. He was being reckless, and taking chances that could very well have impacted others. Plus, he never considered the possible consequences of posting a picture that showed his speedometer while going that fast.

TyGuy was right, he isn't exhibiting behavior that shows some common sense.

If I was rich I'd be going 96 on the freeway too, which is probably why traffic tickets should be proportionate to income.

I don't find "absolutely nothing wrong here" in relation to the photo, I just think it's a generational issue. Many people my age (19) and Andre's age (college aged kids) do the same thing. Is it dangerous and stupid? Of course. But to use that photo as evidence that Drummond is an idiot seems lazy and out of touch with reality considering that this is a common practice amongst "kids".

Furthermore the fact this this has grabbed national headlines is ridiculous. Young people like going fast and in today's day and age documenting such a thing is common with social media being as popular as ever. The roads were clear and he was on a highway...I honestly don't think it's too big a deal.

I'm not absolving Andre of any wrong-doing. I acknowledge that what he did was dumb and irresponsible. I just think that the reaction to said photo was over the top.

I know young kids are stupid but come on: driving way above the speed limit plus no seat belt plus the phone plus the texting is retarded.

At least wear the damn seat belt. You don't have to be a rocket scientist or social media junkie to know that is dumb

Driving
Driving one handed
Driving one handed without a seat belt
Driving one handed without a seat belt at 96 MPH
Driving one handed without a seat belt at 96 MPH while using social media
Driving one handed without a seat belt at 96 MPH while using social media and taking pictures
Driving one handed without a seat belt at 96 MPH while using social media, taking pictures and posting pictures of illegal activity

The point where that activity passes the demarcation line for acceptable behavior changed from person to person but by the time you get to the end of that list, the percentage of people who think that's all OK is very small. I think the vast majority of the public considers the people that think it's OK to be morons lacking in common sense. Drummond has a rep for making boneheaded decisions on the court. This all fits together for a lot of people because it looks like Drummond makes boneheaded decisions off the court as well. I'm not saying that Cavs players don't make bone headed decisions on or off the court, but man, they all seem to know better than to post pictures of it. Waiters twitter account has absolutely nothing to do with this, right?

I'm firmly believe in the "only break one rule at a time" rule. If you must drive 100 mph, keep your hands on the wheel and wear the seat belt. But in Drummond's defense, the seat belt probably would not have saved his life if he wrecked at that speed. =)

I wonder if the NBA insurance company called the Piston's asking for a higher premium in Drummond's salary insurance?

Back off, guys. Cashius knows everything about being in college and people around his age now that he's a sophomore.

Drummond should post a picture of himself doing a keg stand or rolling a blunt next. Hey, it's something that a stupid college kid would do, what's the problem?

"A lot of kids do it," yeah, the ones rocking 2.2 GPAs who, at Drummond's age, are still at least two years away from finishing a bachelor's in communications.

As a professional athlete, you are held to a higher standard. Anybody who takes that picture ordinarily is stupid. A professional athlete? Beyond stupid.

"The roads are clear," like dude, do you even read your shit before you just get uppity and disagree with people? Look at the picture for crying out loud. You don't see cars?

Driving 96 miles per hour isn't smart. Showing it off to the world and engaging in behavior that's scientifically proven to be more harmful toward driving than being under the influence is an entirely different level.

You, "literally disagree," that doing something like that doesn't help someone who already has the image of being unintelligent? I think you're smarter than that.

Nobody on this board is that dumb. You act petty and then accuse others of doing so while you act above the situation that you yourself create. I call that being an instigator. What would your Psychology 101 course say?

Get off Ty's ass.

6. Andre Drummond | Projected 3-year WARP: 26.3

Pelton: Drummond's slow start to 2014-15 doesn't really affect his long-term outlook. Similar players improved their win-percentage rating (the per-minute version of WARP, akin to PER) by 11.0 percent at the same age.
Thorpe: Drummond started the season poorly but his overall talent is too obvious to ignore, and he is showing recent signs of growth. Under his new coach we can expect him to make big strides as the season unfolds and he grows into one of the top big men in basketball.
Elhassan: Drummond has had a disappointing 2014-15, but he's just 21 and has the most imposing physical profile of any player on this list. Detroit needs to pair him with a pick-and-roll playmaker and shooters in order to fulfill his potential.

He was driving with the speedometer on kmph only a little over 60mph.

Have the authors actually watched Drummond play this year? There is no way I'd rank him that high.

I think the scouting has been working on Drummond. He is going to have to kick it up a notch. It's like when the league realized Tristan Never passed out of the post, so you could just go for the block every time.

Damn I wish I had the time and motivation to break down how off-base dumb this post is...whatever.

At the great risk of being called the forum tough guy, you'd be way better off just not replying than doing this stuff. This isn't the first time you've pulled the "this post is so dumb but I'm too awesome to respond substantively" card. It just comes off as throwing a hissy fit before taking your ball and going home.

No Rich. I don't have the time to go through line by line and break down how inaccurate his post is. I didn't want him to feel like I was just ignoring his post.

Keep acting like you know me though lol. It's cute.

You could have just pounded the disagree button and moved on like you normally do. Didn't you say that you aren't childish and don't have to get the last word in? This would have been a great time to demonstrate that. Still waiting on a reasonable response as to why this behavior is okay and how you really aren't following me around and being petty. The "I can't help that we post in the same threads" rebuttal doesn't cut the mustard.

I don't like to hit "disagree" without myself or someone else explaining why the post is disagreeable.

And I'm not following you around for the 1000x time. We disagree on a lot of things and we post in the same threads so we're obviously going to come into contact a lot on the forums. Stop being so sensitive.
