Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I remember after Kyire won Rookie of the year, I was reading people's reactions on the comments under the article on ESPN and the top comment read "Shump got robbed". So, in New Yorker's eyes, we just traded for the 2012 ROY.

I have never seen a more delusional fan base. Honestly, they make some of the Lakers fans sound sane.

I ventured over to their boards and holy hell. No lie, a few of them said Jackson traded Smith to the Cavs to sabotage their season and then bring LeBron to NY next year. :chuckle:

"Less than an hour before he was traded, I was watching Iman run at close to full speed on the court in addition to shooting around from the three-point line. He looked great. Mike Crispino, the Knicks' radio host, looked over at me and said, "Boy, seems like someone's ready to come back pretty soon," because of how good his shot looked. Of course none of those warmups involved him taking any contact, but I'd assume that he can play again within a week or so."

We have a great medical staff.

I doubt we were going to sign off on a trade that netted us a player who is going to need shoulder surgery anytime soon.

There are varying degrees of shoulder separation. If he merely suffered a grade 1, he'll be fine. Given the timetable for his return, I'm sure it had to be pretty mild.

Notes from his injury indicated an MRI showed no damage. It was also his left shoulder, which makes the recovery far easier.

Yes I'm sure it's not a huge issue, but it can take a while, and there are certain positions, particularly arms-up in a situation where you could take a blow, that it matters. But left-arm makes things much better.

And fyi, dislocation and separation are completely different. I've done both; separation doesn't matter unless it's particularly severe, but there's really no relationship between the two injuries, different places on the body.

Thanks CavsHomer for the article. I liked this quote from the article:

In your mind, what is Smith's ideal role with a Cavs team where LeBron James and Kyrie Irving are going to dominate the ball and Kevin Love needs touches?

If he's out there with those three simultaneously, he's obviously best as a catch-and-shoot threat. Thought it was telling that he ranked No. 4 in the league from three-point range on catch and shoot opportunities at a blistering 46.5% clip.

That's a deadly rate, and he didn't get enough of those sorts of shots with New York since he was often relied upon to handle the ball whenever Melo was on the bench.

I've dislocated one of my shoulders several times, had repair surgery which made it feel great, but then it started to dislocate again. Once it has dislocated, the ligaments are permanently stretched out and it's unstable. Muscle can compensate, but the muscle has to be "on". Surgery tightens the ligaments back up, but they're weaker than before.

It aches for months, and is much more susceptible to re-dislocation for several months, because everything is loose for a while as it heals. The arm up and out is most vulnerable, down and in is strongest. He'll need to build up all the shoulder muscles to compensate for the weaker ligaments, but also avoid a hit that pushes his arm up and rotated out.

Shoulder dislocations can have a psychological recovery period as well, because it feels so unstable and weak. There are minor shifts all the time where it feels like it might go back out (subluxation).

The younger and more athletic, the more likely full recovery. But it can become chronic, especially without surgery. Surgery is at least 3-6 month recovery for mortals with normal health care. Pros seem to get by a lot quicker though.

I tore my left labrum and partially tore my left rotator cuff (THANK GOD it didn't fully tear ... I heard rotator cuff surgery and recovery isn't fun AT ALL), which led to a couple of subluxations. That was back in June. I went to Whistler with my fiancé during the holidays, but I avoided skiing in fear of hurting my shoulder even though it feels fine. That psychological worry is really there. I also can be slightly nervous whenever I weightlift. I never ended up getting surgery on my labrum just because, even though it tore, I was still able to lift weights just fine and live relatively pain free after about 3 months had passed.

Delonte was weird too..but he was great for the cavs.

Not saying we shouldn't have traded for him because he's weird. Just saying that he's weird.

That video was like a combination of the movie "The Illusionist" and Busta Rhymes music video "put your hands where my eyes can see."

Iman might be the only NBA player who can seriously rap (in English).

NO IT IS ILLUMINATTI!!!!!

I know it is what you said.

Illuminati indeed. Look what Kevin Love did with Illuminati powers: He vengefully shrank Ricky Rubio and then did unsavory things to him!
