This helps to explain why Love can't seem to hit a big shot in crunch time this year. Anyone else notice this? He's been playing great, but more often than not, it seems like when he gets an opportunity to hit a big shot late in the game, he can't seem to break through.
The problem with Love is, he isn't being put in a position to succeed late in the game.
This isn't a knock on them, but I feel KI and LeBron particularly get into hero mode late in the game, and they end up only passing when they need to.
KL is a great player, both outside, and inside, but on a LeBron team his outside game is what is utilized more so LeBron can get to the rim easier. This is fine, but KL getting some touches near the rim is also needed. He is a beast down there, throw the entry pass, and he will get you the bucket.
It would also help if Love played more in the fourth. I secretly believe Blatt is just trying to rest these guys a lot, and give the bench guys some meaningful minutes (mainly TT). He knows it is a long season, and he knows a lot of our guys have injury histories, and he wants to be healthy going into the playoffs, and then he can ride the talent if need be.
The thing I really love about Blatt, is that he goes with what is working, which is great imo. He needs to learn when to pull the rug on those lines though. If they go on a 15-2 run, and then the other team gets 2 baskets in a row, it's time to go back to the regular rotation, but that is something he will learn I think.
