I'm pretty close to ending my support for this franchise...

The Browns have been unable to find a literally average starting QB for 15 years.

And in reality, Cleveland hasn't had a Quarterback string a full average to above average season together since the early 90s.

This falls under the amazing but true category.

Outside of Derek Anderson's blind luck season we haven't even had an AVERAGE QB season since Vinny T.

Literally?

Doesn't make a difference how long it's taken them to find a 'literally' average QB.

Most of the last decade was spent putting no QBs in a position to even have a chance.

That's different now, the team has more talent than those past teams have had. NOW they've spent time taking the wrong guys who don't even remotely fit into any system.

I'd bet that in that year, DA's QB rating was in the top half of the league. So, figuratively would have been my word.

Looking further, though, you'll see that out of 33 QB's, DA was 17th in QB rating. :chuckle:

How can you denounce the Browns? It's like changing your last name and saying you aren't related to your family. So they suck, and have sucked, and next year, they likely will suck again. So what? You can't help where you are from. If you are from NE Ohio, you didn't really get to choose to be a Browns fan anyway, and now you don't get to choose to stop either. Harness your true fanhood - when they lose, look at the bright side and who played well; when they win, exaggerate how good they are and project that great game into how good they would be if they played like that every week. That's the way to do it - don't get overly emotional about them, just be a damn irrational fan. Don't get into bar fights about them, don't get into arguments with other fans about them, just be a fan because that is where you are from. You didn't choose this, you were a victim of your circumstance, now roll with it or STFU and get out and stop posting in the Browns forum :chuckle:

At least I presented the info. :dunno:

Thank you for owning up. :chuckle:

The only reason it didn't surprise me to see that he didn't end up in the top half is that I remembered that he really only had about a good 4 game stretch. And that was weighted down by average to below average performances.

I swear he was better than Sage Rosenfels and Chad Pennington that year... :chuckle:

I've been conditioned, it seems.

I'm not saying a necessarily disagree with you, but, besides Tim Couch, what QB have we had that, if "put in a position to have a chance," do you think would have been successful?

Pro sports are a business- now more so then ever. Continuing to spend your time and money- more specifically your money- on a garbage product is just foolish. Pro sports are entertainment, nothing more. If all you are getting from your fandom is aggravation, then by all means stop. You can always return to paying attention when the product warrants it. Right now? It doesn't.

I have been contemplating taking a year off for several reasons. I have been wathcing the Browns every Sunday since a young kid from all the way back to 86, but my patience is at an all time low.
I can't get Direct TV due to my HOA rules and I am sick of wasting Sundays at sports bars here in Tampa watching boring Football for 3.5 hours instead of spending time with my wife. I will never leave for good, but I am just not interested in going out of my way to drive to a place to watch Josh Mccown throw to mediocre wr's with a first year OC. Will I pay attention to the team, and eventually come back? yes, no doubt can't help it. But, this product this is just not worth my Sundays for now. I can go to 5-7 beaches 25-40 minutes away during fall Sundays, and still get my football fix with OSU and national games.
