Because of his history of telling people what they wanted to hear and then going straight back to his old behaviors once the heat died down. Its happened so many times that I'm skeptical that this isn't a more extreme "tell the people what they want to hear and lay low for awhile" kind of scenario.

The Browns, in a statement from general manager Ray Farmer, corroborated that Manziel stepped forward to ask for help.

"We respect Johnny's initiative in this decision and will fully support him throughout this process," the statement read. "Our players' health and well-being will always be of the utmost importance to the Cleveland Browns.

"We continually strive to create a supportive environment and provide the appropriate resources, with our foremost focus being on the individual and not just the football player. Johnny's privacy will be respected by us during this very important period and we hope that others will do the same.''


Obvious connection is it the correct one? no source has came out and said anything other than manziel chose to enter rehab

Im not sure why one wouldnt take it at face value if there is no indication of anything else happening.

on another note its amusing that a team that constantly says they have no idea if Johnny will be back for sure april 20th and they have no set quarterback then goes to the NFL and says we cant have hard knocks here because its not good for Johnny

There is a difference between telling people what they want to hear and committing oneself to rehab for 60 days.

Actions speak louder than words. If anything going to rehab removes any excuses. If he does well then his first step of maturity everyone has been crying for of submitting himself to rehab would be a key factor in success. if he fails then his lifestyle cant be blamed as the culprit and the Browns can move onto to their next stab at a quarterback.
I dont care what Jonny is telling people he has sought professional help for his issues which is a big step for him. does he come out of it a non drinker... mr clean who knows but i f he learns enough to exhibit some control over his life then good for him.

not once did i ever blame any of Manziels play on his drinking hell i said if the dude wants to party thats all on him.

Johnny sinks or swims on his ability to play football.

all in all though when you start refering to your opinion as we and the person your disagreeing as one individual seems like you are really intent on bolstering your views with generalizations of what other people think.

Heck was looking at Manziels Jerseys before he went to rehab. I dont care if Johnny goes drinking or if Romo goes plays golf or If he wants to light it up like broadway joe or say a prayer like Tom Landry thats up to him. as a football fan im looking at what these guys do in relation to the game.
