If Kevin Love leaves at this point, he goes back on everything he said over the last year.

"I'll sweep floors if it gets me a title."

Team is in the ECF without you, your teammates like you, the fan base likes you, and you want to flush that to put up huge numbers on a poor team like you just spent years complaining about?

That's not a guy you want on this team anyway. Does the team still look bad for getting him if he turns out to be that kind of guy? You bet. You know who else does? LeBron.

I just can't fathom Kevin Love leaving via free agency. This isn't a case of him being mum all season long - he has outright said he plans to be here long term and as long as LeBron is. LeBron isn't skipping town.

Logic says he isn't going anywhere. Kevin Love says he isn't going anywhere.

Yeah to me, if he leaves, he's basically saying that he values his own stats/legacy over the value of winning a championship. There's no better situation he could find himself in for winning a title, unless some surprise team enters the mix. Boston, New York, Lakers, Trailblazers..none of those teams would appear to be title contenders if he went there.

On the other hand, I could see his desire to have his cake and eat it too. If he stays with Cleveland, he's probably a 16 and 10 guy. Maybe they work out some arrangement where they try and keep his scoring more in line with Kyrie's but I don't see how the Cavs can guarantee him more points, especially if the team plays better when Kyrie and LeBron score more. If he stays with the Cavs long term and is a 16 and 10 guy, it will make it very hard for him to be an all star selection and it would also greatly diminish his chances of being a hall of famer.

The compromise might be to come back for 1 year and hopefully win the title, and then jump to another team after that for big money and be more of a featured scorer there.

I don't place any real value in what he's said all year because I don't see how he could say anything OTHER than that, given how much of a distraction that would have been. As it is, it was already a big distraction even with him denying that there was any chance he'd leave.

Even Windy stopped the speculation. Love has said he's not leaving and said there's no reason to talk about it.
And why would he leave? He know she's getting to the ECF or finals next year.
But don't be surprised if it's short deal because of the rising cap.
But with his injuries he may simply sign the max deal and be done with it.
Either way I'm excited to have him back.

You mean like how LeBron James serenaded us with, "We'll wait and see, should be a fun summer" and "I'm a Cavalier...for now!" for several years leading up to free agency?

Kevin Love has opted to do the opposite and flatly commit, many times, to the Cavs. It'd look pretty bad for him if he left, not that the national media would give that story any run.

K-Love isn't leaving, and he never was. The media hacks have finally moved onto a new shiny object to chase.

I disagree with your points re: Love's legacy, though. Chris Bosh is going to make the hall of fame, and he played a similar role as what Love does.

The drastic difference, however, is that Love will have the benefit of transitioning LeBron out of his prime. Love will be 30 when LeBron is 34, and Love will have the best point guard in the league as his running mate for the rest of his career.

Kevin Love will make the hall of fame if this team stays together. There's no doubt in my mind.

Yeah no chance Love doesn't make the HOF, if he stays imo. That shouldn't even be a consideration for him. He isn't going to set any records, but a couple of titles will help him, along with being a multiple all star. Not to mention that he and Kyrie will hit their primes when LeBron's noticable decline sets in (33ish). With whatever we get next year out of BHay, TT improving, Shump inproving, and Andy's return. Should be set for a long string of title runs

You can get away w/ being an Grade A unrepentant a-hole if you are a top 2 player in the game and/or all-time. MJ was an a-hole to everybody but people still wanted to play w/ him because they knew they could get rings. When he came back to play for the Wizards, he was still an unrepentant a-hole but a shell of himself career-wise, so it went over like a lead balloon in the locker room.

Same thing w/ Kobe. If you're going to be an a-hole to everybody, you better be at the top and on a championship team. Otherwise, you'll be treated like the plague.

going by what love and the staff have said the entire year 99.9% he stays.
and LA really? the media is crazy...... after following the NBA the last couple of years I have learned one thing, nobody and I mean nobody wants to play with kobe

I wonder if kevin is enjoying his first lottery draw where his team isnt desperate for a ping pong ball to bounce their way

I wonder if he will be glued to TV to see his future Lakers win a rigged lottery.

Unless they can somehow convince the Brow to leave like they did the Diesel, I think the Lakers are in for a long spell of mediocrity. No one wants to go to that steaming pile and play for coach Scott who is trapped in the 80s. Even if they win the lottery tonight, there are no generational talents. All the rats in LA have already jumped to the Clips.

It'll be interesting to see the Lakers bad for years. They can learn a little humility and see what reality is for other markets. The Cavs have been, er, rebuilding for probably 2/3 of their existence. For 40+ years the Lakers have been a strong playoff team or contended by luring MVP-level talents to Showtime, but I don't see any of that on the horizon for them. Unlike the Dodgers and Yankees they can't buy themselves into contention in a non-capped league almost every year, either.
