Kyrie Irving

but in my opinion, trying to give him more time at the beginning of the series was a better call than potentially re-aggravating in game 1 and potentially losing him for games later on in the series.

It's not that kind of injury though. Kyrie will need a month of no activity and then will need to rehabilitate. If he rushes, it'll be back the next day. 5,6,7,8.. days won't do anything but prolong the inevitable.

I dont care either way. His O has been hit and mis since the injury and his D is absolutley atrocious. Having delly start takes away some scoring but brings much better D. Also remember carrol might not play so that helps

If Kyrie sits, there's no guarantee we even win game 1 in Atlanta. All of his 10 points and 6 assists were important in his time on the floor. Delly, Shump, and JJ went 1/16.

This arrogance that we can just sit our best players needs to end before Atlanta ends it for us.

The argument is that Kyrie is no longer one of our best players in his current condition.

AC says shut him down, per Baskin and Phelps.

He sounds down. I'll also trust what he says due to experience and also having knee problems himself. He says Kyrie's knee has to completely heal before he can feel any comfort.

He's optimistic he can be healthy Kyrie again this playoffs though.

I'd say if 6 days isn't enough, then maybe 14 would be, but we really cant fuck around.

AC still expects Kyrie to be out there tonight. But pretty much the same as last game.

He's one of our best players whether he's healthy or not. He's a consistent sniper from long distance and draws double teams on pick and rolls that Delly/Shump/J.R. don't. If you go back and watch the game when Delly's on the floor, they didn't even bother guarding him at times and doubled J.R. instead. Of course J.R. was hitting shots with five people on him anyway.

No, he's not. He's a massive liability at this point.

This storyline is getting old.

Either play or don't play. Make a decision for the rest of the series and stick with it.

I'm sorry, but Kyrie needs to suck it up and play. He's a max contract player now and has to live with playing less than 100%. Dwight had a pretty major knee sprain but still gave the Rockets 20/10 in 40 minutes. No excuses.

Right. C'mon you pansy, it's only a flesh wound!

Cavs would still sweep Atlanta without Irving. Some of you underrating the heater the Cavs are on right now. They are getting hot at the right time. The offense may be ugly, but Atlanta was always a fraud team. Carroll being hurt alone finished them.

Meh. Some guys will battle through anything. Some guys just can't. To be a pro athlete at a top level you have to have a pretty good pain tolerance... but some have that other worldly ability to block out and keep going. LBJ has it. Kyrie, well, doesn't. It's why he misses time every year with this ding or that. Now, I am of the opinion that you laud the ones who have this pain tolerance since its rare and you can't expect all players to have it. However, Kyrie has got to find something here. Even if it limits him to playing 20 minutes and just dropping bombs from deep, fine, but he has to gut this out somehow. I know Matthew Dellavedova is now a proven playoff entity and all but even a Kyrie reduced to sharp shooting is still something this team can utilize when the depth is so shallow.

The coaching staff doesn't believe that. And rightfully so.

He looks like shit. Play Delly this series, and let him rest. As long as LeBron, Thompson, and our Knicks players are fine, we will sweep. Delly can play max minutes anyways.
