Kyrie Irving

I think that shutting him down for this series with an eye towards Kyrie playing in the Finals is wishful thinking. Kyrie said he was feeling great heading into game 1. And then he re-aggravates the injury. I'm guessing the Cavs would be looking at the same exact situation in the Finals.

The Cavs need to get what they can out of Kyrie in this series and deal with the Finals when they actually get there.

My best friend is a Wizards fan. Does anyone have any decent ammunition that justifies Irving's All NBA selection over Wall's? I need to scorch him.

Tell him that Wall's numbers wouldn't be nearly as impressive as they are now if he had to play under the shadow of LBJ like KI does. Kyrie has had to deliberately dial back some of what he does to account for LBJ, but we've also seen that he can absolutely explode when his team needs it.

Kyrie's adjustment to that role went far more smoothly than any expected, and it is a testament to his BBIQ and overall ability. But it doesn't mean he's still not playing at such a high level just because his usage has dropped.

He let Teague basically stroll to the basket all game for easy layups.

The big question is will where our offense come from because we are in big trouble if Delly, JR, and Shump aren't hitting from three. LeBron will probably still get his buckets, but Hawks can double and triple team him if they wanted and force the role players to beat them instead.

Some of the issue with Teague drives was by design. Wanted to steer him to bigs as they have since T-Mo's arrival and seemed to make a decision to not roll help from the perimeter forcing hm to finish. He did in the first hlaf. Not so much the second when he went 4-12. Honestly, the way that game went until the James rock-pounding and unhinged contested drive-fest, I'm less uncomfortable with the strategy, tho' obviously there is also an issue with Irving, but given how lousy he has been getting off picks/screens (he often hits them like a cartoon coyote) I'm not convinced the D is that much worse than it's been most season (other than an inspired stretch from LBJ's return to all-star game, at which pt he seemed to revert to bad habits to an increasing amount as they played out the regular season string.

He looks like shit. Play Delly this series, and let him rest. As long as LeBron, Thompson, and our Knicks players are fine, we will sweep. Delly can play max minutes anyways.

Delly can't play max minutes. His style of play requires max energy when he's out there, he can't sustain that for 40 minutes.

Well you know, one can shoot and one can't...you can use that argument (ahem, 3 PT FG%) :conf (11):

As I've stated earlier. LeBron's Heat went to the finals with Wade averaging 12 point in the 1st round. 13 points in the 2nd round and 15 points in the ECF.

If JR can give us that 15 we should be alright.

Just keep playing elite defense. LeBron went to the finals with Mario Chalmers being nothing more than a spot up shooter. Kyrie can fill that role for now. If not, I think Delly can.

After Kevin Love's injury due to a BS play. I tend not to focus so much on who is playing and who is not. Kelly Olyf*ck took that away from us. This is a totally different team anyway.

LeBron needs to play great. JR needs to play good basketball. Shooters (James Jones, etc) need to make shots and we need to play elite defense.

Thats our formula. Thats our hope. Just enjoy each and every upcoming game. OUR CAVS left us in the first round. I'm just going to enjoy what the current group can do.

I get that, but Teague beat him off the dribble so fast. Like even if Timo was standing under the bucket he would be late, but the problem is that Timo has to extend his defense to mid range and sometimes the perimeter to guard Horford, so he was often not there to contest shots. If Delly or Shump was guarding Teague, they would at least slow him down on his way to the bucket and make it harder for him, which would give Mozgov more time to rotate over and help.

I'd rather probably live with Teague shooting jumpers than forcing him towards the hoop anyway. Hawks thrive on dribble penetration. But we played defense well enough. We kept Korver in check and we played Horford and Millsap about as well as we possibly could.

It's so pathetic on Kyrie's part that he's complaining every day with NO structural damage when John Wall had 6 fractures on his hand and played their last two games with NO excuses.

6 non displaced fractures that he doesn't run and jump on.

And Kyrie didn't say a word about his injuries for over 2 weeks. It was never even mentioned until Blatt brought it up after game 4 against Chicago when he got hurt in game 2 against Boston.

A hand is different than a knee. Cant knock Kyrie for that.

However, credit to Wall though. I was amazed at how well he was playing against the Hawks with a broken/hand wrist.

Called it. I do agree with the guys about his pain tolerance being low. But that's just who he is.

The fact that it isn't getting better with extended rest is not a good look and he could be headed for possible surgery.

As far LJ need to handle the ball more, I call bullshit. JR, Delly, and Shump are more than capable of bringing the ball up and running an action to get Lebron the ball in the post.

Also, no structural damage doesn't mean healthy. DeMarre Carroll is questionable tonight, his knee also has no structural damage.

The guy may not even play, but he's still one of "the best players" in that kind of condition? Erm, okay.

He scored more than Delly/JJ/Shump combined in twenty seven minutes and had a positive +/-.

This is why we need to go pg with our draft pick. We need a 3rd pg because no pg plays 82 games anymore.

Also, stop with the player x played with this injury so Kyrie is a wimp for not playing. All injuries are different and we have no idea how limiting the knee injury really is for Kyrie. Wall had an injury to his off hand, not knee, Dwight clearly had explosion last night that kyrie hasn't had in weeks, and it goes on. We just don't know and if he has to sit, he has to sit.
