You'd have to ask Richard Jefferson.Do gay men like Broadway??

I agree, but I don't think he fills the role of "backup for LeBron." He's not a dynamic scorer or facilitator. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that they are roughly the same height and happen to both play "SF" whatever that means these days. He stopped being that level of player several years ago.
I don't think the Cavs are done. At least, I hope they aren't done.
No one is a LeBron backup.
We need a bench sf who can defend and shoot and Jefferson is perfect. When Lebron is off the floor we will have Mo and Kyrie to be the penatrator and facitlitator.
I think you are thinking about a backup all wrong. Hard to get someone to do what Lebron does especially if they are being told they are going to only get 15 mins a game.
@gourimoko i never said it would affect LeBrons minutes because I always assumed we would sign a SF that would get the 8-16 minutes per game that LeBron sits.
As far as what he brings that we don't already have, there is never anything wrong with bringing another proficient three point shooter.
And as I think Jefferson offers a slightly better defensive profile than James Jones,
I think that is an upgrade in that regard, provided Blatt gives some of James Jones minutes to Jefferson. Jefferson is a sturdier defensive option to the two guys we currently had(Jones/Miller) behind LeBron.
This is not spectacular of course but I think it's solid and realistic given the talent we already have and money available to spend.
When LeBron is out of the game, that's when you run the offense through Kevjn Love and surround him with bench shooters like Mo, Jefferson, Jr.
Our offense can be very versatile and proficient when LeBron rests. We don't need to duplicate the way it works with him on the court with a similar player at SF
I don't know how many (including the FO) were going to the offseason thinking Richard Jefferson would be "perfect."
Griffin specifically mentioned going after play makers, so this just seems like somebody he had to settle for. Plus, I have to call into question the abilities of any 35 year old player. Did he shoot and defend before, maybe as recently as last season? Sure, but can he now? No idea. Everyone hits a wall.
