Farewell, Richard Jefferson.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Had to replace one corpse for another I guess. Probably not much worse, if any than Prince.

Was really hoping for Dorell Wright though. I guess that hope is gone.

Richard Jefferson.

Don't like the signing.

But I think the only other two viable options - Prince and Wright - weren't any better.

Just sign JR, TT and Delly and start preparing for the season. Still like our chances if everyone is healthy

Then I'm not sure what we're discussing? What of my post do you disagree with?

In general I agree. I just doubt this offseason is going as planned, and that much seems to be playing out in front of us.

Had we went into this offseason thinking we would come out with a TPE, Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson and no picks, that'd probably make a few folks scratch their heads given what was reportedly on our radar.

Jefferson is a below average defender.

As I recall, Jones often played alongside James.

I think we wasted time, assets and opportunities. It's "realistic" given the situation we put ourselves in. That's not a commendable outcome.

I'm just trying to understand what Griffin has done this offseason that would be considered "good" or "great." I can't think of anything.

Kevin Love signing a 5 year extension? That was pretty good.

Can't multi quite from my phone but:

-I assume what was planned was ability to pounce on an opportunity with Haywood IF circumstances presented a great deal. But I believe a lot of that was based on the actions of FAs that we could not control. So now getting the TPE has been deemed the way to extend to flexibility. Maybe not what they hoped for but don't see it as their fault or under their control.

-Jefferson may be a bad defender but still better defender than James Jones and Miller. So if he takes some of their minutes, than yes I consider the a slight defensive upgrade.

-I think the FA portion of the offseason has been excellent to us not in the retention of our own guys and adding Mo and Jefferson with the very limited options we had for pure FA

Not trying to crown Griffin as "winning" the offseason but hardly see him a "losing" it or failing either. Given our starting point as a roster and that the Haywood opportunity is at least likely extended instead of extinguished I am satisfied.

Mo is a playmaker, added him.

Jefferson is a vet min guy to replace what Marion and the ghost of Mike Miller was supposed to be.

If he performs like he did last year, then he is a perfect addition to the bench.

Perfect doesnt mean home run addition, we already hit all of our homeruns, off season expectations were crazy,

At this point we added two shooters who averaged over 40% from 3 and are on pace to resign all of our vets and get a trade exception to use at deadline if there are any injuries.

We gain back 3 players who were starters when they went down, all in all, its a very good offseason, but fan expectations are always so far beyond reality. Last year was the pipedream offseason come true. Then we had to incredible trades. This offseason is just about keeping the band together, not about creating a superfriends off season. That has already been done.

It's "crazy" that people aren't happy with Richard Jefferson. Okay. "Perfect" to me would at least mean that we knew the player could contribute something next season. When I'm questioning something as basic as that the player is faaaar from a perfect addition.

I've been fed so much positive spin lol. It's better to ignore it.

Anyways, we have an elite team that should compete for the title next season regardless. But the pressure is sky high. Can't have the best player in the world on the wrong side of 30, as a franchise that has never won a title, and not win it all. It's clear why people are nervous. They want to be stacked beyond stacked, especially in the face of other contenders adding major pieces.

Maybe the plan was for them to tell all the other teams we were looking at 26 year olds so they would stay away from Mr. Jefferson and we could swoop in 3 weeks into free agency with our minimum salary offer and get the man we coveted the whole time...

We signed Shump to a decent contract.

JR Smith is still a free agent. KLove came back of his own accord, and did his own thing for his own reasons.

I'm not sure what Griffin did to warrant any praise at all actually.

In fact, I'd question him about our inability to utilize the draft or our draft picks, or his failure to convert the Haywood contract as planned. If the TPE turns into nothing by the offseason, we'd have paid the tax for it simply because we couldn't utilize it.

I also dunno how you can say you're satisfied as you yourself agreed with me on the night of the draft that (paraphrasing) "If we only get a TPE for Haywood, having traded our pick, then I'd be disappointed."

Simply using our MMLE to sign Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson was enough for you?

I remember saying if we simply let the Haywood contract extinguish w out getting the TPE, I'd be disappointed.

Given that we used a TPE to acquire Mozgov midseason last year, I would not be disappointed to have one large one this whole season.
