Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
tt needs to get all the money he wants

he is perfect for today's nba style defense, and should be starting honestly. we were a much better team with him than love.

Well judging from your avatar, at least we know your opinion isn't biased.

His market price should be lower and his salary more fair, something around 12M/year.

What? Ridiculous display of wishful thinking.

Were you anywhere near internet or television for this year's free agency? Next year will be much worse. There's no way that TT's demands will be less next year. They will be worse, far worse. Regardless of how Love performs, because hustle players show their value regardless of who is on the floor.

Demands are already taking the next cap into consideration, why do you think Thompson requires a near max deal? I don't think there will be that much difference.

Hustle players show their value like every other player, according to their exposure and importance to the team, connected to how many minutes a player gets per game, and that's going down.

If anything, he'll sign for what he'd sign this year - a deal starting around 14M/year. At most.

And that would be a pretty stupid option from him. If reports about a 80M/5 year deal are correct, no way he would refuse that, unless his agent is a maniac.

What? I seriously question whether you watched many games last year. During the regular season, TT got plenty of minutes when Love was still playing. Blatt loves him and LBJ loves him. He plays winning basketball, and his minutes and role will not change.

Do I wish we could sign TT for cheap? Yes, of course.

Do I think your wishful thinking is based on poor logic? Yes, indeed.

I have a feeling he's going to take the QO- I have no sources or direct knowledge.
I simply see him signing it to reach unrestricted FA next year.
I'm believing the Cavs ability to match any offer this year caused teams to shy away from TT and even Delly.
Next year when they cannot match, teams may be more willing to approach him.
This is assuming he performs at the same level as the playoffs.
Either way he's a Cav in 15-16. They can deal with him next summer if they choose to, OR, give the money to Mozgov.
Moz may be their bigger priority even now.

Is the financial risk really worth it for TT to take the qualifying offer?

The math just doesn't add up. It's different with Delly, who would be lucky to get 3mm in the open market. TT would be passing up huge guaranteed money. The differential in the 1st year alone should make him want to think long and hard about taking the qualifying offer.

Yeah it's so hard to see him passing up 5M+ to take the qualifying offer to maybe get a larger payday. It's very hard to say, but man I really thought he would take the 12 M so what do I know.

Has any team made an offer for TT yet ? I am very curious to see how the other teams view him.

In the Delly thread someone suggested that there is an agreement about not offering rfa money when they know the team will match. I dunno if it is true, but it is in effect especially with TT. I think the Cavs would actually feel more comfy offering a Max if some other team would. Now they are just bidding against themselves.

absolutely not. He knows the cavs are his cash cow. He play for the qo before he signs an offer from another team because it would be less than what he's already been offered by us. Even if it isn't the 5/80 as reported. That's what makes this even worse than the av holdout a few years ago to me...

Same reason for JR, knows cavs are where he will get most money AND the greatest opportunity at winning, and Lebron is the antidote to his potential viscous Locker room presence, so greatest money and success will come playing with Bron so the 29 other options don't earn him much money beyond 3-4 years intially. Both TT and JR (And Delly et al) have their numbers inflated playing with Lebron, Kyrie and K-Love. JR said it himself before playoffs/finals, with K-Love, Ky and Bron draws double teams and leaves him and everyone else wayyyyyyyyy open, making him look better with every made basket. But JR or TT (To a lesser extent) on the hornets for example have shocking years and end up doing a Lance. They're in effect tied to the cavs, and the only real leverage they have is their play (pre finals for JR) and the fact for TT that Lebron is essentially his agent, and Gilbert will do everything to keep lebron happy. So other teams offers are essentially void anyway, but their play is what has driven their prices up in the 'market'

Totally agree. Only problem is that guys routinely leave championship rosters looking for more money. Ariza is just now at the level he was after he got that big contract, maybe he isn't even there now. It took years to reclaim it. I know for a fact that you are really confident as an NBA player. I talked to Matt Bonner for 3 hrs and he dropped his 3pt % 3 times. Embarrassing

I'm stating a fact here, not assuming anything. Playoffs bolstered his value due to Love's injury.
