2016 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Who are some of your guys favorite twitter follows for the draft?

I was at the CAL/UW game this past Saturday. I don't care if it means starting a concussed Josh McCown every snap; the Browns must do whatever it takes to draft Goff.

The man/kid is a surgeon and after watching all of his games this year, it is obvious he is the real deal. He doesn't have elite tools with regard to the arm or mobility. However, as Brian Sipe, Joe Montana, Steve Young and many others have demonstrated time and again, a big brain is more important than a big arm and Goff has the grey matter in spades.

Physically, he will get faster, stronger and more agile as he is only 20. Feed him, have the bro lift and run drills. That said, you can't teach intelligence and judgement (or natural footwork) and that is why Goff is a quantum leap (heh, @gourimoko) above the rest. After this season it is obvious a house cleaning is imminent in the Browns org. No better time to instill a culture of winning by starting the new era by drafting the Ryan Gosling clone. #TeamGoff

If Goff is as good as you guys say, we must go 1-15. Just get it over with.

Honestly, I'm inclined to say Peyton.

He doesn't have that next level mental game that Manning had. But when you watch him in the pocket with those short choppy steps, it's hard not to see 18.

You're going to get everyone too excited with a statement like that.

Footwork wise, sure, they are very similar. But Peyton is arguably the greatest QB in the history of the game in terms of presnap knowledge, plus he had a rocket arm before his neck injury.

I don't see that same huge arm on Goff, although I do think his arm is good enough to make the throws you need. Plus it's hard to predict that anyone will work as hard in the film room as Peyton has throughout his career. But in terms of accuracy, footwork, poise -- there's some Manning like qualities there.

My concern with any potentially great QB that is available when the Browns pick is that Farmer doesn't value the position enough to abandon his dumbass JFF project.

For that reason, I'd like to see Manziel out there for a few games so it's clear to this dunce he doesn't have the guy back there. OR you fire him before the draft.

I say throw him out there; he gives us the best chance to lose games.

I genuinely understand Pettine's thought process going with McCown over Manziel. He wants to keep his job and 5 or 6 wins might keep it over 2 or 3 wins. Given how unpredictable/moronic Jimbo Haslam is, I really do get Pettine's mentality.

Unfortunately, the cruel irony in all of this is that Pettine's going to get fired regardless because he doesn't have the one thing you need (QB) to consistently win games in the NFL.

Who's a realistic pro comp for Goff?
Peyton's smarts
Brady's competitiveness
Tarkenton's escapability
Manziel's moxie
Vick's arm
Rodgers' accuracy
Vince Lombardi's leadership
Dwight Freeny's spin move
Deacon Jone's head slap
Deion's closing speed
Sayer's burst

Goff has a pretty damn good arm, but as I pointed out I was merely speaking from a footwork/physical standpoint.

Peyton's understanding of the game was so far beyond anyone to come out before or after.

Even then, Goff is still an All-World kind of prospect and the Browns will be fighting it out with Chicago and San Francisco to draft him.

I was referring to Farmer rather than Pettine, under the assumption that Farmer is making the pics. And thus, he'd need to be convinced that Johnny isn't the guy rather than Pett.

By the end of the season Jimmy will have Pettine sweatin.

If I have to change my team name from Heavy Pettine to something else, I'm going to be livid.

I don't think Peyton ever had a great arm either. It was good enough to make all the throws you need. You don't need to have a throw the ball out of the stadium kind of arm, but you do need pinpoint accuracy like he's had through out his career to make the necessary throws.

I doubt any QB coming out will ever understand the game like Peyton so that's hardly a knock.

Look at Peyton now. He can barely throw the ball at all, and is still better than so many QBs in this game just because of his knowledge alone.
