Who are some of your guys favorite twitter follows for the draft?
Honestly, I'm inclined to say Peyton.
He doesn't have that next level mental game that Manning had. But when you watch him in the pocket with those short choppy steps, it's hard not to see 18.
My concern with any potentially great QB that is available when the Browns pick is that Farmer doesn't value the position enough to abandon his dumbass JFF project.
For that reason, I'd like to see Manziel out there for a few games so it's clear to this dunce he doesn't have the guy back there. OR you fire him before the draft.
Peyton's smartsWho's a realistic pro comp for Goff?
You're going to get everyone too excited with a statement like that.
Footwork wise, sure, they are very similar. But Peyton is arguably the greatest QB in the history of the game in terms of presnap knowledge, plus he had a rocket arm before his neck injury.
I don't see that same huge arm on Goff, although I do think his arm is good enough to make the throws you need. Plus it's hard to predict that anyone will work as hard in the film room as Peyton has throughout his career. But in terms of accuracy, footwork, poise -- there's some Manning like qualities there.
I genuinely understand Pettine's thought process going with McCown over Manziel. He wants to keep his job and 5 or 6 wins might keep it over 2 or 3 wins. Given how unpredictable/moronic Jimbo Haslam is, I really do get Pettine's mentality.
Unfortunately, the cruel irony in all of this is that Pettine's going to get fired regardless because he doesn't have the one thing you need (QB) to consistently win games in the NFL.
I was referring to Farmer rather than Pettine, under the assumption that Farmer is making the pics. And thus, he'd need to be convinced that Johnny isn't the guy rather than Pett.
By the end of the season Jimmy will have Pettine sweatin.
Goff has a pretty damn good arm, but as I pointed out I was merely speaking from a footwork/physical standpoint.
Peyton's understanding of the game was so far beyond anyone to come out before or after.
Even then, Goff is still an All-World kind of prospect and the Browns will be fighting it out with Chicago and San Francisco to draft him.
