I got in late last night from Atlanta, but figured I'd provide a brief recap as I went to games 3 & 4. Given the outcomes I had a blast at Philips Arena. And thanks to Hawks "fans" I bought two tickets in the lower level 20 rows behind the Cavs bench (game 3) and two tickets courtside between the Cavs bench and players tunnel (game 4) for significantly cheaper than two tickets in Loudville for the Finals last year
Game 3 was pretty damn exciting, even though the Cavs defense was awful until the 8-9 minute mark of the 4th. It was reassuring to see them turn the switch on again, getting steals, rebounds, and stops in an instant. Being there I had no idea that Frye had 27 (I thought he had 15-17 when he had 24) or that the Cavs knocked down 21 threes. It was a whirlwind and that final run was amazing.
A section over and four rows down was David Griffin and his family. I walked over and introduced myself before the second half started. Really nice guy who immediately asked me my named and thanked my girlfriend and I for coming out to support the team. I was also able to meet Justin Houston from the Chiefs who was sitting courtside behind the Cleveland bench and cheering for the Cavs.
Game 4 was cool being courtside to get a read on the players. Pregame was all business with players running quickly onto the court, avoiding the crazies asking for pictures and autographs. It was fun seeing the team's reaction to every three ball and big basket. Shumpert had a flabbergasted look when Kyrie had the left hand off the glass bucket late in the 4th quarter.
You could see the relief on the players faces after they sealed the deal, did their usual post-game handshakes, and tore through the tunnel high-fiving all the fans. The best was Ty Lue who stormed through the tunnel, yelled "fuck yeah!" right in front of me, and delivered a thundering high five. Pretty awesome experience at the end of the day.
