Dan Gilbert

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Dan Gilbert wanted to keep LeBron, why did he not fire Ty Lue after the Finals and hire the guy LeBron shares an agent with?

Ok I will bite, do you really think the difference between LeBron staying and leaving was indeed based on whether or not Lue was employed by Dan? If so, you really think Dan said “screw what LeBron wants, I’m keeping Lue!” Yeah that’s madness if that’s how you processed this season and LeBron’s free agency.

LeBron was priority 1, 2 and 3 despite what lies SAS was spreading, so even if Dan had to stomach hiring Mark Jackson to keep LeBron, he would do it without hesitation IMO.

Seems pretty obvious at this point that LeBron knew he was leaving all season. I don't think there's a single move we could have made to change that, and I think any moves we had made we'd be regretting right now when he left anyway.

LeBron has always wanted to play for Mark Jackson.

It’s not true that Dan Gilbert would hire Mark Jackson if LeBron wanted him to.

This is why I am saying Dan Gilbert is a moron.

Yeah, they didn't hire him because they'd already hired a coach and weren't going to fire him before he even coached a game.
edit: Larry Drew was dumped unceremoniously in 2014 and was forced to do a press conference with a draft pick he knew he wouldn’t be coaching.

These things happen.

Dan Gilbert should have fired Ty Lue after this last finals and hired the guy LeBron wanted.

Dan Gilbert is an idiot.

And all Cavs fans get to suffer for it.

I am mainly typing this, not at this particular troll but as a post for the entire board really. I've seen this crap even parroted on Bruce Drennan's show. My patience is also beyond thin because I'm not exactly happy with the events that have transpired. (not at LeBron, Dan.)

But since I have to put this on repeat for this obvious sockpuppet of a troll.

-LeBron wanted Lue. That's why Lue was hired as an assistant. LeBron admired him and said as much in weeks prior.
-That's why Blatt was fired.
-That's why Lue was hired and kept the job.
-LeBron was never going to stay past this year. It's been said he wanted to leave even after 2016 because he felt he held up his end of the bargain, living his childhood dream and being the one to get the Cavs a ring.
-The only way LeBron would have stayed is in some fantastic, awesome alternate universe where Durant has a working set of genitalia and tells Draymond Green to eat shit after Game 7 in 2016.
-Even then, what? He probably leaves anyway feeling satisfied with his legacy because him leaving was a business and family decision.

Get it through your head already.

Unless Dan Gilbert molested you? There is no reason to be mad at him for LeBron leaving.

We probably would have won a title in 2015 regardless of Blatt and LeBron disliking each other had Love and Irving not gotten hurt. Coaching had little to do with it. LeBron couldn't beat that Warriors team by himself. A healthy Irving and we probably win. We won the title in 2016 with Lue coaching. In 2017 and 2018 we never really had any chance to win, and I don't think any coach really changes that.

And Mark Jackson doesn't strike me as any better of a coach than Ty Lue. Mark Jackson sure as shit wouldn't have been enough to keep LeBron around, and anyone who thinks otherwise is fucking delusional.

More fake news. Ty lue was coming to the cavs to help kyrie and waiters relationship. He was coming before Lebron announced. He was one of the finalist for the HCing job before blatt got it. Gilbert wanted blatt to have an experienced nba guy on the staff. That’s why he paid him higher than any assistant in the league.

How do you know hiring Mark Jackson wouldn’t have kept LeBron here when it is known LeBron wanted Mark Jackson hired to be the head coach?

Mark Jackson was holding that GSW team back.

That’s not really true and it doesn’t matter.

When you have the greatest player in the world on your team, all that matters is making him happy.
