He’ll be fresh for the playoffs.
Have to keep Duke now.
Probably because he missed more than half last year and missing half of this year, equating to an entire season.Serious question, how is this not a 13 game suspension? It's one thing when you are released by your team and not resigned but Godell put him on the commissioners list before the release. I get the NFL failed miserably with Ray Rice but I'm not sure that I like the overcorrection where a guy is now missing 3/4 of a season for incidents that the law didn't have enough evidence to even bring charges let alone convict...and yes I'd feel that way if he were on another team.
Very good for him!
So he's off the exempt list, and the suspension does not begin until August 31st, 2019.
Thus, Kareem is eligible for all offseason OTA, training camp, and preseason games. Not to mention team resources and counseling.
Eh. I don’t think we have to at all. Dorsey seems high on Hilliard plus Duke might not exactly be a good locker room guy knowing all year he’s just waiting to be benched
Returner is a dead position. You can get away with someone who doesn't drop the ball or lose yards. I think that's why Peppers kept that job as long as he did.Keeping Duke could open up a roster spot at another position though. His ability to play RB and in the slot would reduce the need to keep 6 WRs. Also with Peppers gone, Duke might be asked to be a returner more. I think Hue seem to worry about Duke getting injured because he was one of our only playmakers, that isn't the case now.
Chubb didn't play much on 3rd downs last year and Hunt was also taken off the field on 3rd down by the Chiefs. Majority of 3rd downs, playing in the slot, and in the return game could be a significant enough role for Duke.

I want Duke to stay here, but he's more of a receiver than a running back and the Browns are loaded at receiver. Why would Duke play in the slot when they have Landry?
Haley/Kitchens barely used him at RB last season. Hunt being suspended for 8 games, doesn't change the fact that Duke's role is/has been insignificant.
He would fit better on any team with a weak receiving core (like the Patriots do every year). There's an opportunity to get a decent asset for Duke now and then replace him with an UDFA later.
Isaiah Crowell is availableWith the Moving of Landry I agree Duke has even more limited touches this year even if Hunt wasn't here. We need a backup big back for atleast 8 games, but don't break the bank, maybe CJ Anderson?
But I would trade Duke now to maximize his value, I don't think you get as good of a return for him at the deadline.

Why though? We managed just fine last season after the Hyde trade with the trio of Chubb, Duke, and Hilliard. With the Moving of Landry I agree Duke has even more limited touches this year even if Hunt wasn't here.
