Game Thread | Game #7 | Celtics @ Cavs | Nov. 2, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is supposed to be our teams Kryptonite. Thought the Cavs outplayed them most of the game and honestly played better ball. Celtics have more wily tricks and flopping ability.

Have to see them with Rob Williams, but I don't think the Cavs need to be scared.

Only cap on this team is health

Mobley has that rare superstar quality where the bigger the moment gets, his game and impact rises to a completely different level. He was a complete fucking monster on defense towards the end of that game. And although he barely even touched the ball on offense, he was super active in manipulating the defense and creating space for Garland and Mitchell on top of being a menace on the offensive glass. Soon enough they'll start actually running plays for him in those moments and really unlocking him as he develops. Special stuff.

I hate it too. I also hate the advance on a timeout rule.
I like the ball advancing. If it didn’t, the point that a “game winner” exists only increases. You should have to get a defensive stop or release at the literal buzzer to win a tie or 1 possession game imo.

Thought this was a really good proof of concept for what the Cavs top 3 guys can be together. Garland is the offensive engine, he makes us go and could very well be our best offensive player for the first 45 mins of the game. All of a sudden our bigs had a handful more easy looks and when he was in the game, the offense just flowed better. But when the game tightens up at the very end and you need a bucket, Mitchell is your man. Incredible late game shotmaking from him. And Mobley is just so smart. Starting at the 3rd quarter he was just flowing to the perfect spots, cutting off drives and passing lanes when he needed to but also recovering to his man so there wasn't an open look, and just finding ideal spots to score within the flow of the offense.

I hear you. He does rise to the moment - you see those flashes.

Also, a lot of people call him passive - but I've always said he has that KD demeanor.

My favorite type of post: Our individual stats after a win.

Starters:
LeVert 15-8-4 in 46 minutes. He shot poorly but played good defense, got key rebounds, and hit 3 3s.
Mobley 15-7-2 in 32 minutes. He'd have more minutes if he hadn't gotten into foul trouble.
Allen 14-14-0 with 2 blocks in 36 minutes. A solid game.
Mitchell 25-4-6 with a steal and 2 blocks in 44 minutes. Off shooting night, but still key in OT. Oddly, Mitchell didn't shoot any free throws
Garland 29-5-12 with 3 steals in 42 minutes. 5-11 from 3, only 3 turnovers.

What did our bench do? Not much. 16-13-0 in 24 minutes.
Wade 6-4-0 with 2 steals in 24 minutes. He was in at the end.
Love 8-5-0 in 14 minutes Off shooting night. 4-5 from FT
Osman 0-4-0 in 12 minutes. Off shooting night.
Lopez 2-0-0 in 5 minutes
Okoro 0-0-0 in 8 minutes. He did play some good D on Brown.

I agree on all points. I just hope Mitchell doesn’t get tunnel vision at the end of games going forward.

RCF is running strangely on my phone tonight, haven't been able to Love and Like as many messages as I can from you all.

Will go back and do so later!

Darius Garland post game:
"How is your eye?"

"We got the win, I saw that, so I'm good."

DG the PG dropping quotes after dropping dimes and eviscerating the Celtics!!!!! Damn, I missed him!

Love this team. This team: This is a fuckin' squad. Can't wait for the next one!

I've long complained about the idea that suddenly fouls aren't fouls just because the clock is under 30 seconds to go.

You can basically do anything you want to screen someone at that point. YOu can just wrap your arms around them, move 10 feet, there is no such thing as an illegal screen with the game on the line on a final possession.

hate it.
I remember years ago the Celtics lost a playoff game on the last possession because KG got called for a moving screen off the ball. So much talk the next couple days, not asking “was it a good call” (because it was clearly a foul), but “should it have been called.” Smh.

I also remember a playoff game in which Dwight Howard shoved Ben Wallace with his ass (no foul called) which allowed Rashard Lewis to hit a big 3pt shot. I won’t get into that one…
