The two coolest trades I remember being a kid/teenager was the Dominique Wilkins/Danny Manning trade (so weird seeing Nique with the Clippers)

And

Shawn Kemp traded to the Cavs…In fact, the only thing that got me over the Indians losing to the Marlins in ‘97 was knowing I was about to see Shawn Kemp play on the Cavs in a few days….

That Cavs team is still one of my favorites…. Loved Derek Anderson and Kemp on that squad.. Kemp was still a force…

Can’t believe it’s almost been 25 years….

We're only two years apart, and I remember those trades well, too. Dominique was the first star player I saw live as a kid. My family traveled from Murfreesboro, TN to Atlanta in 1993-94 to see the Hawks when Dominique was still there. He had a windmill. He was traded for Manning later in the season.

I loved the Sonics teams of the 1990s with Kemp, Payton, and Nate McMillan. Back in the early Internet days, I occasionally used the name "Lil McMillan" on basketball chats. The Cavs trade ended that era. I remember Kemp was still playing pretty well at first, but then came the weight gain, the drug stuff, and of course the infamous news of all his kids.

The 1990s seem so long ago now. I finally started to feel old this decade and have no issue identifying as one of those geriatric Millennials.

I met Shawn Kemp at the ripe age of six- he gave me his warm up jersey signed by a lot of that years roster, and was incredibly nice to me and my dad. He actually had them reserve tickets for the follow home game, and we sat extremely low, which for a six year old was so cool.

I met Mr Shawn at the ripe age of 36, and he gave me a noogie. Too little, too late I said.

Shawn Kemp getting traded from the Cavs was my introduction to how getting rid of a bad NBA contracts means taking average players back in return.

Rain man for Clarence frickin Weatherspoon and Chris effin Gatling!

What a waste. The guy also looked like he had good form from 3. On the positive in those clips it looks like you could fit 2 Kemps into 1 Zion. The guy had the size and talent of #6 but obviously lacked the drive.

97-98 was a large fakeout season. Stuff to remember for now.

Yes, yes.

But it did result in the emergence of two longtime Cleveland superstars:

You guessed it… Danny Ferry and Derek Anderson.
