2012 Baseball Offseason Player Movement Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know who that is, or understand your current hard on for me...but I'll continue with my cuntish attitude toward people who troll this board.

You're giving Chris the benefit of the doubt. In other words, people typically aren't smart enough to troll someone in the way Chris would be. Just because someone doesn't understand or agree doesn't make them a troll.

And your tough guy shit attitude sucks.

I'm trying to remember the last time the Indians acquired a stud player .... straining my brain here ... I mean, there is probably a reason they've sucked perennially for about a full decade. But everything is just fine with the organization according to b00bie, despite this fact. Just fine in Tribe Land. Perhaps we can start to forgive the botching of the CC/Lee trades when they start bringing in players that help them win games again. That'll happen someday, right?

Ok, b00bie - I apologize. This dude is a troll.
You're conveniently ignoring the many trades that have panned out. Not every trade works out.

He can't remember stud players acquired via trade, while complaining about dealing away stud players acquired via trade.

Just caught up with the back & forth & realized this was the same dude who said Bauer/Skaggs/Olt for AsCab would have been a bad trade...

I'm only half trolling. The more you whine about trolls, the more tempting it is to goad you.

But let's be serious for a second.

I told you I had no idea who those people were so I googled them, as anyone would, and saw that the big guy in the trade was a dude the D Bags were desperate to get rid of because they were sick of him and the other guys had done jack shit. I don't think I ever used the words "bad trade," although if they were stiffs, it probably would turn out to be bad. It's moot because just like most things the Indians are involved in, it didn't happen.

I said the last time you neanderthal. While you and Damage jerk each other off, I guess that tiny detail in my post will elude both of you. :chuckles: Hint: it's a figure of speech to say it rarely happens.

Seeing as the Indians have zero stud players on their team, this is not out of the realm of possibility. Are you going to bring up Chris Perez now? Are you? Weren't you railing against how his sabermetrics showed he wasn't that good at some point during the last year? Or was that someone else?

Would have liked to get Alex White back, still think he has a future as an excellent back of the pen reliever. I know his stock has dropped but surprised he had to be part of a package just to get a reliever.

Don't forget, too, that Colorado did that silly pitching experiment this past season with their starters limited to something like 70 pitches. I think they f'ed with a number of their young pitchers this past season. Wonder if the club could get Pomeranz back? Maybe not without dealing pitching.

You should probably google sabermetrics to find out.

Needless to say, even the most casual of fans understand why they're looking at young guys with boatloads of potential and team control instead of MLB players who they can't retain because of free agency.

We all just have to hope that you'll get it one day, too.

I understand why they want prospects.

I just have 0 faith that they will pan out. See the difference?

Cool story, bro.

Basing everything off two trades certainly doesn't seem naive. Especially when you completely refuse to even acknowledge that the best players on this team were acquired via trade.

So the fact that we got Chris Perez for Mark DeRosa, Choo & A-Cab for Broussard & Eduardo Perez (separate deals), Santana for Casey Blake, etc, doesn't balance out that we missed on the Lee & C.C trades?

Hell, I'll go out on the limb & say that the positives on the returns for DeRosa, Broussard, Perez, and Blake far outweigh the negatives on the returns for C.C & Lee.

Face it, our best trades will always be whom we acquire for the mid/lower-tier players. We will never get great value for the C.C's & Lee's because other teams know that we'll get outbid for them by the New Yorks, Bostons, L.A's, etc and we don't want to lose them for nothing.

The best players on the team were acquired more than half a decade ago in obscure trades, and those players are so good that the team still loses 100 games per year. Fact. Well, there is Chris Perez who they got recently, and I'll concede him to you. Mainly because I don't feel like arguing about the true value of Chris Perez right now (there is a litany of pages worth of text on the Internet already debating this anyways).

Something tells me the A Cab and Choo trades are going to be the new "Colon Trade" that everybody references in defense of the front office for the next 20 years.

Santana is a massive disappointment so far. Really, I don't see how you can be touting him as success. It's like Matt LaPorta, who was a blue chip prospect, yet we all know he blows now 5 years later. Santana still seems to be living off his status as a blue chip prospect. So far, his stardom has...not materialized.

But I do acknowledge Choo/Cabrera/Perez, as I did above, and I do understand your last point. That doesn't stop me from being disappointed about the returns on such trades and skeptical about what we are getting in return for whoever else we trade.

Wow...Highest WAR on the team, highest RAR on the team, led the team in HR, RBI, BB, 2nd highest OPS on the team, and all in his 2nd full year in the majors...yeah, massive disappointment.

He had the most homers on the team....with 18.

Good god does that make me wince. The only problem with comparing his stats to his teammates is that the Indians are one of the dredges of the league.

I'm just pointing out that that was the worst example of using the phrase "massive disappointment" I have ever seen. He has been far from a massive disappointment. In light of the Damage and boobie posts, troll on my friend.
