"Hey man did you hear the Bulls are playing their starters against the Cavs?"

I thought Lakers pick was protected... Is that wrong? I can't see how Lakers GM would let this slip.

Our right to swap with them next year has no protection, this year was lotto protected in case their season went to shit.

If not Bynum then who will play C though? Dwight is "hurt", Bosh is not going to be able to bang with Gasol (Marc), Love is too short.

Griffen maybe? I literally have no idea who is going to play C if not Bynum. Maybe Chandler?

There is no guarantee Sessions will be on the Lakers next year either, not that I know he will be gone or anything, but if some team offers him 8 million I doubt the Lakers match.

They're not adding anyone else to the 20 players on the list that they currently have. Of those, one of either Bosh, Chandler, Griffin or Love, will fill the spot of Howard.

No, no guarantee on Sessions, but if Kobe likes him, I can't imagine him going anywhere else, unless, like you said, someone offers him a big deal. I think here's there next season.

We need to hope Sessions has a big playoffs. If he does then he will get that Ben Gordon over paid by some shmuck team. I can't see the Lakers matching an 8 million offer for him, but I have no real proof other than to say I believe they are trying to cut costs because of the Odom ordeal.

Gordon got over 50 million. Sessions isn't going to get that much.

What if Sessions walks and LA signs Steve Nash?

I know that. I wasn't saying he will, just comparing the situations. If Sessions has a good playoffs he will get over paid and will be eligible for this years Ben Gordon award for a player that had a decent season, and a good playoffs and then does nothing for the rest of his career on a bad team.

It might happen. Nash probably wants to finish with a contender who needs a PG. That is basically LAL, NYK, and MIA. I'm a Suns fan and love Nash and would hate to see him in Miami. It was hard enough having Bibby there (UofA alumn).

Hey guys, I'm not the biggest guy here on stats while I know some others on this forum are, but I thought we should have a dedicated thread to the 2012 NBA draft lottery since the season is now over. We're tied for third with New Orleans, which means that the lottery combinations between third and fourth will be combined and then divided by two and redistributed evenly between New Orleans and us, effectively making our position more so "3.5" than a true third place (unfortunately, damn you New Orleans). Let's just pray that we win the coin toss.

Regardless, we should feel blessed to have fallen this far. We had no business being where we are this season, yet our team took the effort to make sure we were going to have a great chance to add another all-star caliber player to this team. If we tank again next season, then we will have a talent-loaded team. The difference between us and a team like the Kings will be leadership and a lack of head cases in addition to an owner willing to shell out any amount of money it takes to win.

What are your thoughts on the draft lottery?

Btw, someone please post the official stats for me like percent chances of winning the lottery and whatnot. You can do this after the coin tosses more preferable. Thanks.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Theres lots of great work in the magic number thread by Rab and some other wise men.

here is a table that breaks the lotto down historically, obviously the third and forth spots are relevant to the cavs now

13 Draft Lotteries

3rd Worst Top 3:4 times (30.8%) Top5: 12 times (92.3%)
4th Worst Top 3:6 times (46.2%) Top5: 11 times (84.6%)

So the cavs are in a great spot to be in the top 5 which really garuntees one of Davis/MKG/Drummond or Beal (assuming robinson is also in the top 5 but desired by another team there)

All those guys have the potential to really make an impact down the line

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Here are the odds for the Cavs now that we know they are tied at 3&4 and with other ties at 5&6, and 7&8--

<table border="4"><tr><td>Pick</td><td>Win
Flip
</td><td>Lose
Flip
</td></tr><tr><td>7</td><td></td><td>1.265%</td></tr><tr><td>6</td><td>4.555%</td><td>15.585%</td></tr><tr><td>5</td><td>29.051%</td><td>32.312%</td></tr><tr><td>4</td><td>23.818%</td><td>8.508%</td></tr><tr><td>3</td><td>14.534%</td><td>14.472%</td></tr><tr><td>2</td><td>14.242%</td><td>14.158%</td></tr><tr><td>1</td><td>13.8%</td><td>13.7%</td></tr></table>
