2012 Draft

Recently you said your top 6 was Davis, Beal, MKG, Barnes, Drummond, Robinson. Two questions:

How do you think the first 3 picks shake out and then our corresponding 4th pick?

If Davis, MKG, Beal come off first, who's your pick?

You randomly pop in and give some good insight...just want to hear where your head's at right now.

DX latest mock has some suprises in, including trob going second and the kings taking drummond. Can't see them pairing him with cousins personally. The good news is beal drops to cleveland, but we take melo at 24.

New Orleans Hornets: Anthony Davis, PF, Kentucky, 6-10, Fr.
Charlotte Bobcats: Thomas Robinson, PF, Kansas, 6-9, Jr.
Washington Bullets: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, SF, Kentucky, 6-7, Fr.
Cleveland Cavaliers: Bradley Beal, SG, Florida, 6-3, Fr.
The Cavaliers' biggest need is on the wing, so Beal likely steps in and starts right away. He and Kyrie Irving would be a terrific young backcourt of the future. Andre Drummond would be a possiblility here, too, but Beal is the safer pick that Cleveland needs right now. I wouldn’t rule out Harrison Barnes here either.

Sacramento Kings: Andre Drummond, C, Connecticut, 6-11, Fr.
Portland Blazers: Harrison Barnes, SF, North Carolina, 6-8, So.
Golden State: Perry Jones, F, Baylor, 6-11, So.
Toronto Raptors: Dion Waiters, SG, Syracuse, 6-4, So.
Detroit Pistons: Arnett Moultrie, PF, Mississippi State, 6-11, Jr.
New Orleans Hornets: Austin Rivers, SG, Duke, 6-4, Fr.
Portland Blazers: Damian Lillard, PG, Weber State, 6-2, Jr.
Milwaukee Bucks: Jared Sullinger, PF, Ohio State, 6-9, So.
Phoenix Suns: Kendall Marshall, PG, North Carolina, 6-2, So.
Houston Rockets: Tyler Zeller, C, North Carolina, 7-0, Sr.
Philadelphia 76ers: John Henson, PF, North Carolina, 6-10, Jr.
24. Cleveland Cavaliers: Moe Harkless, SF, St. John's, 6-8, Fr.
Cleveland own the Lakers' pick from the Ramon Sessions trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2012 NBA Draft Trades.
Grabbing Beal at No. 4 would address the Cavaliers' need at shooting guard, and Moe Harkless could be the answer at small forward. I really like him due to his size, athleticism, and versatility, and if Cleveland drafts like this, I will love the team's first-round picks.

I'm not enjoying the pro-Beal sentiment I'm reading from Realgm Wiz.

Beal / Harkless is my dream first round. If I am the GM, that's what I am targetting. The problem is I don't see the celtics and atlanta passin on Harkless... I think we would need to move up to 20 i think

And I don't know if Beal is going to fall to 4... Let's hope Bobcats go with drummond/barnes/mkg, while wiz go with MKG/TRob

To be honest, our hopes aren't that much changed from say if we got the 2nd pick. We were still looking at MKG, Beal or even possibly Drummond. We will still definitely have the chance to draft one of those, with 2 of them still being on the board being a possibility as well. We are still looking at the same players, we're just looking at the ones left after Charlotte and Washington go.

I really would not be surprised if MJ went with Barnes at 2.

I have no idea what Charlotte will do. If they keep their pick they dont have a whole lot (relatively speaking) at SF and PF if you believe Biyombo is C. If they dont trade the pick I think Barnes, Robinson and Kidd-Gilchrist are candidates.

Im not sure what the Cavaliers would do in that scenario. There are a lot of factors involved. Drummond is a long term pick. Barnes is a relatively safe pick. I dont have a handle on Chris Grant yet so Im not sure which direction they are likely to go.

In other words not enough information right now.

Beal's shooting form is absolutely beautiful. Ross is crazy athletic.

Snarly,I would have to go this way..we need a big.

4 Cleveland Michael Kidd-Gil... 6-6 216 SF Kentucky Fr.
24 *Cleveland Fab Melo 7-0 255 C Syracuse So.

33 *Cleveland Will Barton 6-6 175 SG/SF Memphis So.
34 Cleveland Tony Wroten 6-5 204 PG/SG Washington Fr

Here's what I see happening above us:

1. New Orleans- done deal here. Pick: Davis
2. Charlotte- for a multitude of reasons they have to hit with this pick, which is why I believe they will end up playing it safe. They took a raw center (Biyombo) a year ago, so I believe they pass on Drummond. Their biggest needs are PF, SF, & an upgrade at SG. I see them choosing between Robinson, Barnes, & MKG. I think they go with Robinson, who is the safest pick of the three. Pick: Robinson
3. Washington- their biggest needs are a SG & SF, who can shoot from the outside. They need a forward who will compliment Jan Vesely, who didn't make a 3 all year. I see them choosing between Beal & Barnes, the latter of who is a better outside shooter than MKG. Pick: Barnes
4. CLEVELAND- pretty simply here. They want a wing and their order of preference is MKG, Barnes, Beal. They are assured of getting one of them and will take whoever is left. A trade up is a possibility, depending on the cost involved. Pick: MKG

Here's a repost from the other thread--

1) Hornets take Davis because they f-ing won that shit, bitches!!!
2) Bobcats take Dummond because Jordan isn't any better at talent selection than when he drafted Kwame with the #1 pick
3) Wizards take Beal because Jordan Crawford is more of a liability than Chris Singleton
4) That leaves the Cavs to chose between Barnes, Robinson, and MKG and I think they take MKG.
5) Kings take Robinson because they need an adult on that team
6) Portland takes Barnes and laughs all the way back to the WCF's.

All right Dougie..you're Grant..this far out from the draft, who would U target?

All right Dougie..you're Grant..this far out from the draft, who would U target?

I think Grant would be pretty happy drafting MKG, Barnes, Robinson, or Beal and would probably take them in that order.

I don't expect him to trade up for any higher for any of them of them unless it doesn't cost the Cavs any talent.

I do see him trying to trade up from #24 into the mid teens. After pick #1, the sweet spot in this draft is in the 12-17 range. There's going to be most talent in that area since the JJ Hickson draft.
