2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From Chad Ford:

• Is Anthony Davis a lock for the No. 1 pick? Yes, and it's not even close. Forget about the fact that the Hornets are saying publicly that they are still considering their options. He's the guy.

You can also forget about them trading the No. 1 pick. Sources say the Cavs offered them No. 4, No. 24, No. 33 and No. 34 for No. 1. And sources said the Cavs got a firm and quick "No!"

Hmm, I posted that same offer in a thread a few weeks ago. Folks pretty much agreed that there was no way the Cats would take that. Guess they were right. I would have to think, though, that had the Bobcats already had a star in tow that they would be more inclined to take that deal.

I feel like the Hornets should have at least strongly considered that deal.

They would then have #4, #10, #24, #33, #34

They have a strong need for a power-forward, so they could have either taken Robinson at #4, or offered Charlotte the #4 & #10 for #2 to assure that they land him.

Considering how much the Hornets like Davis, going into the draft with #1 and #10 and coming out of it with Robinson, #24, #33, and #34 sounds like a pretty bad tradeoff. If the Hornets were offered a fantastic talent or huge salary relief along with picks, maybe something could happen.

I hear ya. I think some believe Davis will become the next Dwight Howard. I'll stick with Camby.

Was chasing down confirmation from Cavs about the reported offer to New Orleans. Source confirms talks but says nothing formal ever made.

When asked about potential swap of picks b/w Portland & Cleveland same source said extremely unlikely bc Cavs would face less certainty at 6

there's a difference between what you're willing to offer, and what is simply disproportionately stupid. the above is the latter.

Um, it's not really stupid...at all. If you believe Davis is a superstar in the making, at least.

From Joe at Probasketball
As was first reported by PBD early last week, the Charlotte Bobcats are very open to trading their pick. While speaking to one Western Conference GM, PBD was told that Bobcats GM Rick Cho "is actively exploring deals with teams all over the league," this source added that a potential swap is most likely focused Portland. Who would likely move up for Thomas Robinson but could consider Brad Beal as well. By moving down the Bobcats could look to add multiple pieces to their rebuilding efforts. By moving down the Bobcats could also address their thinnest position, SF, with a player that shares ties with Michael Jordan. Would Harrison Barnes make it to 6? Sounds very plausible.

How about #4, #33, #34 and Casspi (?) for the Bobcats' #2. ?

The best offer won't come until draft day - the Hornets know that...

I think the most we would offer is #4, #24, #32, #33, Tristan and maybe 1st round pick in 2013

That sounds like a lot to give up, but if he's the next great franchise player, get it done.

Let's just focus on getting MKG or Beal for that matter. I don't see NOH trading the #1. They need a star, they need ticket sales, so AD, Ryan Hollins 2.0, the stick of sticks will be going there.

I like the idea of soaking up Emeka's contract for a pick. I just enjoy the idea of possibly drafting 2 starters in MKG and Rivers.

From Probballdraft:

Cleveland Cavaliers worked out Tony Wroten, Scott Machado, Royce White, Mike Scott, Robbie Hummel, & Draymond Green today.

According to a source the Cleveland workout was very competitive. Players went hard but doesn't sound like any one prospect wowed the Cavs.

I thought you were joking earlier when you said AD would be like Hollins...
:chuckles:

Hey man people have their beliefs lol.

This man won't even be better than Tyson Chandler. And it took Tyson like 6 years to be good.

Wonder if something like #4, #24, #33, #34, Kings #1 for #1 and Okafor is something the Hornets at least think about.

From Sam Amick:

John Henson will be working out with the Cavs:

North Carolina's John Henson wraps up workout in Sacto (No. 5), says he's going to Portland (No.6/11) tomorrow, then Phoenix (No. 13), Golden State (No. 7), Houston (No. 14 & No. 16), Toronto (No. 8), Philadelphia (No. 15), and Cleveland (No. 4). "It's going to be a long two weeks, but I'm ready for it," Henson said.
