2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Austin Rivers was supposed to work out with the Cavs this week. Any news about that? I didn't hear anything.

Also, did the Cavs ever get around to bringing Evan Fournier for a look? I know he's been working out for some other teams after the Euro combine.

I know a lot of people don't think its likely that we trade up, and it is usually hard to get a good deal done, but we have 8 or 9 picks in the next 2 years, and we aren't going to take them all. There will inevitably be moves made.

Well, it won't mean shit to the Hornets, and I'm sure that at least 10 other criteria weigh more heavily for Charlotte and Washington than what Grant is doing.

At least 10 other criteria, doubtful..

-Say Barnes or MKG is Grant's guy. Grant isn't sure if they will fall all the way to #4. Grant has a rumor put out there that says he's had discussions with Charlotte for #2 in order to select Beal. All of a sudden, Washington, who was thinking Beal would fall into their laps at #3, have to start thinking alternatively: "Is the rumor true?" "Will we have to trade up to #2 ourselves or work out a deal with Charlotte the day of the draft in order to ensure Beal is ours?" "Do we like Beal that much in order to move up, or will we be happy to draft whoever's available at #3?"

Anything that gets reported has an effect on the rest of the draft & how the other teams draft & think, whether smokescreen or true.

That's why some GM's are so damn good at manipulating the draft.

You put way too much stock into these "smokescreens."

I expect the Cavs to go hard after whoever they like at the top, but I will be very interested to see how the later first round and early second's are used. That is where team's like San Antonio and OKC to an extent built their teams. (Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Serge Ibaka, etc.)

You have to be able to find at least rotational players with those picks. We've done nothing in the later 1st/ 2nd rounds for a long time. I believe Boozer was drafted in the second round. Imagine hitting a player like him (talent wise) this year. Boobie Gibson to an extent, but even he can't stay on the court as much as I like the guy.

All I'm saying is we need to do serious work, outside of the top pick.

i can't figure out whether or not this is supposed to be a joke

He definitely did

FWIW, asked ibob about the Cavs, we haven't decided on the pick yet

I never said it was the end all, be all for other teams deciding on who to pick.

All I said was that it has an effect on other teams' thinking, which is absolutely true.

Not with Boston making that promise to Royce White......

Boston has back to back picks in the 1st Rd.

They're gonna spend both 1st round picks on PF's even though they have Brandon Bass on the roster?

Please stop quoting this goof's posts or information. Those of us who have his account(s) on ignore would appreciate it.

Bass is an unrestricted free agent. Not saying they will pick two PFs, but if they lose Garnett and Bass, they are going to have holes...
