Exactly...Wright was picked before us and they had no plan for that and panicked and had no idea what to do. Wreaks of incompetence. Being a Browns fan, you can only get kicked in the nuts for so long...disheartening.

I'm betting they had a contingency plan in case Wright wasn't there at 22... I'm betting that plan was Weeden. I doubt they drafted a QB in the first round out of "panic"

"We are not taking a quarterback in the first round" is much different than "we don't plan on drafting a quarterback in the first round". However, both maybe interpreted the same.

Nobody knows exactly what was said. There's a difference between, "We aren't taking a QB in the first round" and "We aren't planning on taking a QB in the first round." the plan was obviously Wright, but when that fell through they were gonna take Weeden and take a WR in the second.
