2012 NFL Draft Shocker

The Browns draft a defensive player with #22. Nick Perry or Mercilius at the DE position or Gilmore/Kilpatrick at the CB position. Every mock has us taking a WR or OT at 22. We could get a Ruben Randall possibly at 37 who I would take over Stephen Hill honestly and pick up the OT in the 3rd round.

The ultimate shocker would be the Browns drafting Claiborne at 4 (or 6) then taking Gilmore or Kilpatrick at 22. Holy shit that would be some sweet 3 CB sets.

I understand the allure of Stephen Hill, has the same kind of ridiculous athleticism that attracted us to Cameron, but we've had a hard time developing these kind of raw receivers (see Carlton Mitchell). I don't know much about Hill really, so if someone can tell me he's mildly NFL ready, I'll feel better.

I think the bigger issue with him is the unknown. He could be a very good receiver, but there is a lack of tape on him. I like him, personally.

That would leave the Browns in great position to fleece someone who is in love with Kalil (which is why it won't happen). Being able to drop up to 6 spots, swapping this years 1st and netting us an extra 2nd this year and additional 1st next year would be very hard to pass up.

Having potentially this year #10, #22, #37, #42 would set us up to grab some major potential talent to fill the holes on our team. I'd even consider taking Tanny at #10 in that scenario and I don't like Tanny as an early 1st round QB. But to be able to take say; Tanny (QB), Martin (RB), Hill (WR), Massie (RT) would be pretty sweet.

Again I have said the drops didn't affect the game much. If you were paying attention I used targetting data. Little was targeted 121 times on the season dropped 12 and caught 61. Where were the other 48 that were thrown his way? MoMass was targeted 74 times and caught 37 again not all of them were drops. You would think a guy with 74 targets should have at least 50 receptions.

Again I hate the argument of getting the franchise QB next year. I don't see one that is a "Franchise" QB in next years draft. One may emerge but as of now I will pass on most of them. Also how do you know we don't have decent WRs when they never had a decent QB throwing them the football? It is a catch 22. Rookie WRs aren't going to help much if at all. So after we get the "talent" around Colt and he still doesn't perform everyone will say that he needs yet another year because he had "young" talent out there and they need to gain more experience. It is this philosophy that has set this team back years.

Not only that I don't "hate" Colt. He needs to be replaced. I am just one of the few that actually understands the game of football and how to analyze players and not look at it from some mythical perspective that a crap QB is going to get better with better talent around them. Go and analyze Colt's throws (if you understand how to) then come back and realize that he missed more throws than were "dropped".

Also I hope we draft TRich so defenses put 9 in the box and he gains only 2.0 yards per attempt so everyone can call him a bust. Or Blackmon and watch him "drop" passes and get his clock cleaned when he has to try to go up and get the ducks that were thrown last season.

McCoy threw 6 passes over 30 yards last year. None of them were caught in stride and each one the WR had to wait on the ball thus allowing the defender to make a play. If those passes had less air and were able to hit the WR in stride they are TDs. The biggest glaring hole on this team is obvious. Also you are failing to reconize that this is the 3rd year. If we don't show improvement and go 4-12 again with the current regime all or most of them will be gone. They won't be there to make the pick. So then I have to ask the question do you stake your job/career on Colt McCoy?

The fact remains that the browns had the most drops of any team. I watched every game last year, and many of the drops were very catchable balls and little struggled from drops even in training camp.

You don't think barkley is a franchise qb? But you think tannehill is? Really?

A good supporting cast absolutely can make a qb look better. Do you think Sanchez would look as good as he does without his great receivers? Do you think matt flynn would put up 45 points with the browns receivers?

Like I said before, gabbert is steaming shit. How come Maurice jones-drew still led the league in rushing. Ponder is shit. Peterson still puts up beast numbers. Peyton Hillis even put up ok numbers with colt starting. Our running backs are complete and utter shit.

I don't have a problem getting a replacement or trading for hasselbeck. My problem would be taking tannehill way way too early when he has shown so little and would at least have to sit behind McCoy next season.
