2012 Offseason: Quarterbacks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does anyone remember the last time the Browns traded up/back into the 1st round to get a QB?

Remind yourself how much better off they would have been had the Browns kept the 1st they gave up instead?

To put that in prespective

The players left at that point in the draft in 2008 included:

Felix Jones (taken with Browns pick given up for Quinn # 22)

Rashard Mendenhall (taken right after the pick that was given up #23)

Chris Johnson (taken 2 picks after the pick that was given up #24)

The only person in this draft a bounty of picks should be given up to acquire is Luck

The worst possible outcome would be giving up big time picks to move up two spots for RGIII, only to have him blow because his receivers never get open, and when they do they drop passes.

Just an opinion, but I don't think any quarterback has ever failed because of bad receivers. Quarterbacks fail because they're not good enough, not because their receivers aren't good enough. And a good quarterback can make fair-to-middling receivers look a lot better than they are. If the Browns had Jordy Nelson and James Jones people would still be screaming that Colt McCoy needs more "weapons."

if rg3 isn't there go Blackmon then tannehill then trade up for mike adams

IMO, if we can't get Luck or RG3, I don't want us touching any QB's until late, maybe a guy like Kellen Moore. If RG3 is off the board when we pick, then you take Blackmon or Richardson at #4 and address whatever position you didn't pick at 4 with the 22 pick

Why would anybody want Tannehill? His accuracy is worse than McCoy's and I am pretty sure accuracy is the most important trait of a QB in the NFL. I wouldn't take Tannehill before the 4th.

It's comforting knowing this is exactly what the Browns won't do. We have a project in Colt. Yes, he regressed a bit this year, but the running game was non-existent and the team was learning a new system. Colt showed a lot of promise when he had Hillis helping him move the chains last year. Why would the Browns take on another project who has less college starts than Colt has pro starts? Especially a QB that flammed out in almost every second half this year after teams made adjustments.

I have no problem if the Browns decide to get a stud QB prospect in Luck or Griffin, or if they want to add a vet like Kolb or Flynn for a modest cost. But spending a first round pick on a QB that isn't even an elite prospect just doesn't make sense to me.

I got an idea, keep McCoy....draft Blackmon and package 22 to move up and get Richardson draft a guy like keeum or moore late and see what they got in camp...sign some young athletic lineman and resign hillis and give McCoy another season if he doesn't succeed draft Tyler Wilson or Aaron Murray next year

For the love of God, please STOP POSTING!

Agreed, 61 completion wont translate well to the Pros. The one stat that seems to translate the best from college to pros is completions percentage. (Although Brees was only a 61% completion in college ironically)

A good example of why completion percentage and accuracy don't correlate well when looking at college stats.

Tannehill is just simply not accurate, short or long. He's a project in every way.

Why try and build around a dime-a-dozen player like McCoy? You can get a guy like him in the middle rounds of every single draft.

What do you guys think of Kellen Moore?
