Love all you assholes who criticize dellavedova over one bad game when you all know his been a solid back up this pre season.

Give the kid a break, I'm sick of the delly bashing.

What? Oden just dunked that Is the big news now. Delly Is old news now.

Not bashing. Just stating the obvious that he doesn't handle on-ball pressure well at all.

True, but if the Washington game plan is to pressure the 3rd string rookie point guard - which shouldn't surprise because Dellavedova had the same game at St. Mary - the other players have to make themselves available for a pass up the court. Overall, the other Cavaliers didn't do that. They left him on an island with little motion. AC said as much in the telecast.

Taylor came off the bench and realized how easy it is to break open when the point guard is pressured, but he missed his shots.

If you poll RCF posters, I think you would find that everyone wants Dellavedova to emerge as a quality PG off the bench (this season or at some point). Looks like he'll get that chance. But if you expect any posters, especially in game threads, to refrain from criticizing players, you'll be disappointed.

i feel that mike brown's defense really struggles against high pick n roll spread out offense.. with all the helping and hard shows on defense, the corner 3's will be open.. it was evident today and against the magic playoff series... or maybe i'm just paranoid losing a meaningless preseason game against the wiz..

Delly will get bashed, but questioning why others aren't being bashed is the smart next move. The guys on the floor in the second half looked like they were playing water polo against a team playing basketball.

I agree with you. If you have guys helping all over the place and "shrinking the floor," then teams that can spread you out and hit the 3 will have a field day against you.

Agreed. But it all starts with the Point Guard. And if he's getting shook from a little pressure, that is gonna kill the lineup out there, especially when you're talking about backups.

Delly has had a pretty good preseason. Tonight, from what I've seen, is the first time he was really pressed and he didn't respond well. Hopefully that's something he can fix.

Where have we seen that happen before?? Hmm... I wonder. :(

If Delly is the point guard, he will not be able to dribble out of heavy pressure easily. He is like Damon Jones in that regard. He just doesn't have great footspeed. Players will have to break toward a press breaking play at times, which college basketball fans know can lead to 3 on 2 breaks if done correctly.

Well, Bennett is getting bashed even more (and rightfully so, considering high expectations). I don't think people are spending the time to bash Williams, Taylor, Diop, and Kadji, because they probably won't be around. I didn't pay enough attention to Sims because Dellavedova couldn't get him the ball (KIDDING!).

I am not disappointed when Dellavedova gets ambushed and has trouble dribbling out of danger. If he was an amazing ball-handler, he probably would have gotten drafted by some other team. But it did bother me tonight when some of his turnovers looked to be a result of bad decision making (sketchy cross-court passes and that kind of thing).

I think he has had a good preseason overall. A lot better than summer league. Think he has room to grow, too.

:chuckles:

Dellavedova certainly has room to grow, and I'm sure that if he shot the ball like he did in college, we have a different discussion about him. I'm guessing the reason nobody can buy a shot in the second half is because Brown is draining them in practice. I don't complain, preseason doesn't really matter, but we are talking about a guy who normally shoots over 37% from the outside incapable of hitting shots... its rough when he is a Damon Jones type point guard.

Wondering if the other scrubs weren't moving to get open because they knew he was making the team and they weren't. That would be one hell of a parting F you.
