2013 NFL Free Agency: Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I dont think Jennings is that special I believe its more of the Packers Offense System and Aaron Rodgers....

Dont get me wrong hes a better proven commodity than anything we have but hes gonna want way to much money,id pass...

What does everyone thing it would take to get DRC? He had a pretty shit year in Philly, so I can't think he'll be at the top of their list to bring back or at the top of anyone else's big board. He was very highly regarded in Arizona under Horton though.

Also, I've heard that Dallas won't bring back Anthony Spencer now that they're moving to the 4-3. He had a pretty good year across from Ware. I'd be good with bringing him in if it's not too expensive.

As a Cowboys fan, I can tell you Spencer is one of the more over hyped players in the NFL. His success comes from the attention Ware gets, any game Ware is out Spencer is non-existent. I'm not gonna tell you he is awful, he's a solid player but the money he wants is not worth his production.

Was just reading an article on ESPNCleveland (I know most arent good) but it was talking about Ted Gin Jr. Being a Cleveland Native and has had a similar Career path to Desmond Howard who was SB Mvp....Anyways i didnt know Gin Jr. was a F/A after this season and wanted to know what your guys thoughts are as far as bringing him in to strictly take over Josh Cribbs returning duty, i know im a big OSU Homer and i love the fact that hes from Cleveland....But would you sign him strictly to be are return guy????I have alot of love for Josh Cribbs but i feel he has lost a step and isnt the same type of returner....

Now i would say lets just let Benji handle all the returns which i believe will happen anyways but id love to leave him as a WR strictly as i have big hopes for Travis Benijamin i like he could develop into one of the best slot recievers given the right circumstances...

Anyways bored in the morning and thought we should debate alot of different options when it comes to F/A in 2013,for some reason i have a feeling this F/A class will be the biggest one we've had in quite some time...I guess you could say it may be Haslams way of trying to say im not cheap and ill pay for a player i really like.Granted this can be a double edged sword as you can look up some of the contracts some of the players got last year and it was ridiculous some players off the top off my head...Laurent Robinson,Robert Meacheam,Ray Edwards etc...

Totally agree i think Anthony Spencer is extermely overrated and i wouldnt sign him to any type of contract...Hes getting up there in age as well to me he'd be a perfect Eric Mangini F/A....

Nice to see we will still build through draft but I hope we still are active in free agency filling some voids

Hope the Browns gets some 2nd round picks... Cause after the 6th overall pick they are not picking till 3rd round

I did this Browns mock on another board:

Going off of the updated cbs rankings, here's my latest Browns mock:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings

6) OLB Mingo or OLB J.Jones (tough spot, would prefer a tradedown)
68) FS Amerson or OLB B.Jenkins or OLB C.Thomas or OLB Carradine
101) CB Wreh-Wilson or FS Cyprien or DT/DE Logan or QB EJ Manuel
132) OT Armstead or CB Robey or FS Motta
~170) ILB Mauti or DB Mathieu or OT Mills or CB Adams or G Uzzi
~204) and ~206) 2 of WR Boyce, P Allen, OLB E.Martin, DE J.Kruger, DE Lewis-Moore, DE S.Vallone, OT Wetzel, OLB Q.Smith, CB J.Johnson, CB Malone, TE Rivera, WR Moe, RB Winn, FS Boyett, CB M.White, RB Johnson, OT O.Johnson

I'd want more 3rd day picks

As always 2nd to 4th is where the value's at. The question for the Browns will be what's better? Rolling the dice on "high end" boom/(injury) busts like Mingo/J:Jones + Amerson

OR

punt our 1st rounder and get 2 more 2nd to 4th rounders in return

Is Mingo/Jones better than, say: Ansah/D.Jordan + Patton/Poyer + Logan/S.Bailey (or flyer on a falling QB like EJ Manuel) ??

I somewhat prefer the 2nd scenario...our 1st pick would still be a "risky" pass rushing prospect, but we'd get a "safe" 2nd round guy like Patton or Poyer and either another flyer (QB or injury player...Carradine? Jenkins?) or solid pick like Logan or S.Bailey in the 3rd/4th round range to "risk control" the draft class

Opinions?

Sorry for being a noob and posting in the wrong forum, but how in hell can I delete or edit my post? When I click on edit I do not even see my text

Looking at who the Browns are losing this year I forgot Ben Watson and Alex Smith are gone. So they have one Tightend left who is Jordan Cameron. Browns looking TE in draft or free agents? I think Ben Watson should be signed back. Opinions?

With Chud being a TE guru (Winslow, Olsen, Gates, Shockey) I could see us taking a TE in the draft (Jordan Reed in 3rd round from UF). I'd like to see us pursue Pitta in free agency but Baltimore will probably re-sign him

I could live with depth signings if they keep our young core together with contract extensions.
