2014-15 Off-Season Thread (Moss Acquired - Page 16)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Joel Sherman: Dodgers have made 2B Dee Gordon available.

Indians had a real interest in him a while back. I think they planned on converting him into a CF.....

Someone called them potential instant favorites in the Central. Color me skeptical on that one.
'potentially instant', i love it. Way to go out on a limb, sounds like something Skip Bayless would say. You can say that about any team if they make the right moves. The Astros are instant ontenders if their young talent pans out. My aunt is potentially instantly' my uncle if she has a sex change. Some of these talking heads blow my mind.

I think their interest was based more on being able to get him cheap than buying high, which is what they would be doing now.

Justin Upton linked to Cleveland? Any chance ATL takes back either Bourn/Swish with a prospect?

"@JonHeymanCBS: justin upton no-trade::tor, clev, milw, cubs. clev is 1 of a few teams linked. 2 yrs ago sea was on list, & he nixed deal."

We are on the no trade list so I doubt he would approve the trade unless he changed his mind.

Lester told SF Giants they're out

Scherzer is looking for a 200 million dollar contract

I'd take Gordon in a heartbeat. Not sure what we'd offer LA though.

Nope. The only way I could see it is is the Indians flipped Bourn and a top prospect for both Uptons. Even then I don't know.

No, John Hart is said to be looking for a young pitcher the caliber of Shelby Miller as a return.

That would essentially be Danny Salazar or Trevor Bauer for one year of JUp.

Nah.

No idea why LA would even consider this. Gordon makes nothing and is an All-Star, I highly doubt there is any truth to this.

Indians have serious interest in Rios, per Heyman.

If nothing else, I think this is a pretty clear indication that the Indians are trying to actively move Swisher and/or Bourn.

They simply can't be involved with these players without one or both of them being traded.

Lonnie Chisenhall thinks Dee Gordon needs to be more selective at the plate- Gordon had a 4/47 BB/K ratio in the 2nd half. I think the Dodgers are just trying to see what they can get while his value is likely at its highest.

Does anyone have a ballpark number on what the Indians have to play with money wise based on their usual payroll range?

After you factor in arbitration, probably not much.

They'll most likely try and rid themselves of David Murphy, so that would wipe out another $7M, but I see them adding maybe one or two more low-level pitchers.

Maybe waiting out the market and finding someone early in 2015 for the rotation.

Could see them dropping Raburn as well, clearing up another 2.5...especially if the interest in a RH OFer is true, seeing as that is what Raburn was for the past few years.

Honestly I wish they'd just role with Holt and invest in pitching.

He can play all three OF spots above average, decent at the plate.
