The Indians have the arm talent in their rotation to have 4 legitimate aces on any given day. Kluber, Carassco, Bauer and Salazar all have the stuff that can make them dominant at any time. Add that in with solid innings eaters like House and McAllister...

I understand the talent that some teams have in this division. The Tigers still have premier talent, even if this is their last chance. The White Sox can destroy the ball and have added a legit 2nd starter. KC is still really young and improving.

But all of those teams lost significant pieces or just aren't going to be better. The Indians lost no one and have gained another year of experience while adding an all-star power hitter.

If the Stars align correctly, the Indians might be the best team in the AL.

Hot take:

I'm not rushing to give Kluber an extension. Hes under team control through age 32 or something and just had a huge innings increase. If they can do something team friendly, do it - but if you're only buying out 1 FA year I don't know that they need to break the bank when Kluber has all the leverage.

I'll agree with boobie from a few pages back, Indians really need to go out and find a veteran SP. With injuries that occur throughout the season, you need someone who can start the season as your # 4/5. I'm confident with Kluber, Carrassco and Salazar. Have Bauer and House go for the other spot while the veteran takes the other.

Brett Anderson (as rumors have stated), Kyle Kendrick or Vogelsong could be guys the Indians could probably get for cheaper.

Fangraphs projections:

1. Tigers - 86-76
2. Indians - 85-77
3. Royals - 81-81
4. White Sox - 78-84
5. Twins - 76-86

They project the Red Sox to win the East, the Mariners in the West, and the Indians to host the Angels or Blue Jays (same record) in the Wild Card.

White Sox have for sure improved so far this off season. I don't really think the Tigers improved that much.

Headley to the Yankees - 4 yrs $52 million

That...would've been a nice pickup for the Tribe if they didn't already have money tied up in Swish / Bourn.

somewhat off topic but for those on twitter...Keybank is having 4 days of giving away 5 prizes per day...the grand prize is season tickets...all u have to do is either retweet the account or answer the questions https://twitter.com/keybank

I like the Sox moves and i really don't think they spent that much. There payroll was only 81m last year since they jettisoned Peavy n Konerkos contract before 2014. Moneywise a few moves were a wash. Laroches contract replaces Dunns. Dukes contract replaced Matt Lindstroms. The other two moves, Cabrera and David Robertson, pretty much bring payroll back to what it was in 2013. And they improved while only having to deal prospects for just one addition, Smardzija. I think the Sox did fine and have joined the Royals n tribe in competing with the Tigers.
