2014-2015 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just looked at the Bill's schedule.. They'll win 5 games max next year.

Heath Miller? Top 5 TE? Really? On what planet? Literally he's like the 29th most valuable TE in some advanced stats I looked at. I don't think he's that bad but he's maybe in the middle 10 of starters.

Wow man. You are REALLY underrating Miller. He is the Jason Witten to Ben's Romo.

Tes I'd rather have over him in 2014: Jordan Cameron, Jimmy Graham, Julius Thomas, Rob Gronkowski (toss up due to his injuries).

That's about it. I'm probably too optimistic about the Steelers, but you seem to be a little too pessimistic. It isn't time to clean house yet.

I really like Heath (and I'm a Browns fan) but he's probably the third best TE in the AFC North behind Cameron and a healthy Pitta. He is not better than those you mentioned.

You're right about that one. Brutal. Same with Oakland.

I think OAK can sneak a game or two and it wouldn't surprise me if they won 6 or 7 games, I'm really curious to see how their draft class performs. Football is better when the Browns and Raiders are good so I hope this class is the catalyst.

He was 35th in DVOA last year among TE's. That means his value per play in the passing game wasn't very good.

Guys I'd take in front of him for 2014 easily
Graham
Julius Thomas
V. Davis
Witten
Cameron
Gronkowski
G. Olsen
Antonio Gates
M. Bennett
Pitta

Guys He's in the same ballpark of=-
C. Clay
Timothy Wright
Jared Cook
Scott Chandler
Jordan Reed
Owen Daniels

Other guys that will possibly be as good as Miller in 2014
Ladarius Green
Colby Fleenor
Tyler Eifert
Kyle Rudolph

The only value Heath has is as a safety valve as he catches a fairly high percentage of the balls thrown in his direction.

He was pretty good in 2012, so maybe he regains that form.

I agree with you completely on the bolded. I could maybe be persuaded on the red ones. But no way on the others. Coby Fleener? Absolutely not. Cassius Clay? Nope. Timothy Wright? Really?

What player on the Steelers DO you have a high regard for?

I hold Decastro, Bell(potentially), Brown(not a fan of the theatrics)and maybe still Troy in high regards. Pouncey is good but him and his dumb brother can both fuck off. I think Heyward looks decent. Most everyone else is just a guy and our team is mediocre to watch.

I flip flop on Ben. He's frustrating to watch at times. I don't really like the mileage and head injuries he's taken. I probably would have taken Bridgewater or Manziel instead of giving Ben a new deal.

The new slotting system makes drafting a young QB highly favorable since you're locking in a cheap salary for 3-5 years instead of paying a Qb 18m vs the cap.

If you go 8-8 or worse again this year I move on and draft a new QB.

I'm actually surprised the Steelers didn't take a qb this year. Let him sit for a year or two until Ben is ready to retire and then let him take the reigns. Maybe that's their goal next year?

I like Bell but are you guys worried that Blount may take some carries from him?

I would have to look at depth but Blunt might not even make the roster. I don't think they have much of anything invested and he won't be playing special teams. I would hope Bell takes a giant leap forward.

If you assume Bell, Archer and Will Johnson(I think that's the FB's name) make the roster, they may only carry 1 more running back and Blount's status as a vested vet means that you have to pay him his whole base guaranteed if he gets cut after being on the week 1 roster.

Tl:Dr Blount might not make the roster

OK. Wow. Didn't realize they gave Blount 2M guaranteed. That's a decent chunk.

I would be surprised if he breaks 125 carries this year though.

I see dri archer as more of a OW than RB. I feel like he will get 5-7 touches a game and try to get him out in space.

If they use about 360-375 RB carries and everyone is healthy-
Bell- had 244 last year and missed 3 games. I think 200-240 seems like a good number
Blount-between 80-120, depending on game scores. May spell Bell so they can be more selective when using Bell
Archer-probably has between 20-50 runs unless he supplants Blount. I know this sounds low as hell but the math for total runs by RB is consistently around the same number. He may snag some of the 16 or so WR runs they use. I know 5-7 touches sounds easy to give someone but that's a lot in a pro offense for a gimmick type guy. I hated the Archer pick cause players of his profile rarely amount to much. Archer also doesn't return punts or at least never has.
