2014 Cleveland Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Browns also slapped the shit out of the Steelers 31-10, and the Steelers are in 1st now.

You should know by now... The games the Browns win against good teams are the outliers. It's the lackluster wins against poor competition that are what you should hone in on when evaluating the Browns.

Insufferable.

Insufferable.

It's the truth. Doesn't matter if you agree with me or not. The wins get discounted, the poor games magnified. It's just the way.

Yeah, there was so much negativity here after the win over the Steelers.

I don't know how you put up with it and keep so calm.

Just stop. You're the queen of backhanded compliments and not really giving credit. If I'm too "insufferable" for you (I think this is week 3 of you saying it to me), put me on fucking ignore.

I'm just thrilled the Browns won and am hoping they've got their o-line gelling better going into Thursday. Another strong interior defensive line with little time to prepare is going to be something to watch. I feel like the Browns have a chance if the secondary can keep away from allowing AJ Green gouge them (catches/penalties). They also (obviously) need to figure out how to run on this team. Can't keep crapping the bed with the run.

I don't disagree with any of this, I'm just encouraging you to drop the "everybody discounts the big wins and is so negative, I'm the only positive Browns fan here" act.

The Browns were down by over 20 to the Titans at one point, lost to the Jags, played the Raiders in a close one and then barely squeaked past the Bucs. There's a difference between the occasional miss step against a bad team and consistently having poor outputs against bad teams.
Your defending Super Bowl Champion Seahawks:

  • Beat the Redskins by 10 in a back and forth contest in Week 5
  • Lost to the Rams in Week 7
  • Beat the Panthers by 4 points in Week 8
  • Beat the Raiders by 6 total points yesterday

But also have wins against the Broncos and Packers...

This is the NFL where every team has NFL talent. Where teams play up or down to their opponent on a weekly basis and anybody can beat anybody with one bounce of the ball.

NFL wins should never be easy. As a team that's played hard in past years against good teams only to find ways to lose (i.e. tight games against New England, KC, Baltimore, Steelers, and Bears last year), we Browns fans should know better.

It has nothing to do with that. It has to do with the fact that these lackluster performances against awful teams have come in 4 consecutive weeks, that's what makes the better performances against good teams look like the outliers.. Things can change if they put up a good performance against the Bengals, but right now they don't look like the team they were in the first four weeks.

Of course the year we are playing well and are 5-3, we are the only division where every team has a winning record.

I kind of like it though, makes this Thursday's game freakin' huge.

Kind of like the year we went 10-6 and didn't make the playoffs.

Just think about every game the Browns were in but couldn't close out over the past 12 years. Each of those opposing teams squeaked out a win against a shitty Browns team, but THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS IN THE NFL. There is so much parity and there are so many variables that the differences between good and bad teams are minute.

PS Chuck Booms is a disease and I'm disgusted to have him represent our city in radio

There's times I want to praise the hell out of Pettine, but there's also times where I look at my T.V wondering what the hell he's thinking.

Perfect example: End of the 1st half yesterday. WTF was that? Supposedly, he "didn't want Tampa to get the ball back"...

Well, there was under a minute left & you were in Tampa territory. Yes, it was 3rd & long, but to not call a TO there with still a ton of time left (50 seconds or so), tells me you don't have much confidence in:

A) Your offense that they'll convert the 3rd down, and

B) Your D that they'd stop Tampa deep in their own territory with around 40-45 seconds to go in the half.

Really no excuse for that.

Another thing is we've got to come into games more prepared and full of energy (for lack of a better phrase). Too many times we've had to crawl back into games because we come out looking like we didn't prepare 2 minutes for that game.

Overall though, it's tough to place a ton of blame at Pettine. We're 5-3, have a huge win over Pittsburgh, and are right in the thick of the AFC North race while battling injuries & being without one of the top WR in the game.

Yeah. The decision made before half was a bit odd. Definitely different from what we're used to seeing.

That said, all it takes is a Glennon bomb in the direction of Skrine, Haden or Gilbert for Tampa Bay to get within field goal range (via catch and/or flag) and we're saying, "same old Browns."

Maybe so, but that's irrelevant when it comes to Pettine's decision.. plus, they'd be questioning & bashing the secondary in that case, not the coaching call..

Didn't have a problem at all with the halftime call.

The odds of picking up the first down are slim, much better chance of moving into field goal territory and taking the three.
