Which is a valid fear. If Cardale had started, it was essentially a guarantee that JT would be on the team next year. Cardale is probably leaving regardless, and if JT has another great year and gets enough NFL buzz, he could leave too.

I'm honestly shocked, especially after watching scarlet and gray days. Maybe he thought JT would handle the benching better since he's the mature one of the bunch?

Honestly, me too.

I can confidently say I get pretty good info on a number of OSU related decisions.

This was as close to the vest as I've ever seen.

I heard the theory this morning that Cardale will start this year, declare for the NFL and get picked, leaving JT to start for the next year or two after that.

Is that something that is possible that was worked out between JT and Urban? "Hey stay this season and I'll give you the next two years after that to drive the ship."
