2015 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Now back to Buckeyes. I am worried about next year. I hope we can go undefeated or only take one loss (hopefully it would be against Oklahoma so it is early in the year and not to a B1G school). We still have great young talent on the team & coming in. But gee whiz, all of these people we lost are going to hurt. I will be happy as hell with a B1G title or at least it coming down to the UM game. 2017 will be our year again.

What we must keep in mind is that Elliot, Lee, and Thomas were all no-names (in regards to on-field production) a mere two years ago. Meyer doesn't rebuild, he reloads. We have an abundance of young, unproven talent.

My biggest worry is that Warriner is still in over his head. With proven commodities, it still took this team too long to get humming. Not only is he tasked with rebuilding an offensive line but continuing to oversee the offense with question marks across the board. This worries me.

I am less worried on the defensive side as Hubbard, Hill, Munger, and Sprinkle performed admirably against ND. Lewis, McMillian, and Conley are all studs. I also think Schiano brings an edge to him (good and bad) that will help. I honestly don't see our defense falling off that much.

Couple of names to keep an eye on offensively next year:

DeMario McCall - True freshman can absolutely make an immediate impact he he stays healthy. He's got that side-to-side quickness that separates him. Moves well in traffic and dude can fly. Might get reps at the H and out of the backfield, moving all around the field for certain touches.

Austin Mack - WR coming in from Indiana will enroll early and participate in spring ball. One of the most polished high school wide receivers to come to this school in a long time. Dominated the Army HS AA game this past week. Can absolutely make an instant impact at the position.

Torrence Gibson - Seems to have really dedicated himself as the season went off. Climbed out of the doghouse and is primed to make an impact as a slash player or split out wide.

KJ Hill - If you're looking for the next Mike Thomas, it's likely going to be this guy. Needs to work on his consistency, but will absolutely work his way into the two-deep next year and can do some really special things.

Mike Weber - The heir apparent at running back. MCL injury derailed his season, but he SHOULD have been playing. In two years when he leaves for the NFL, Meyer will regret sidelining him after the injury.

OSU's offense is going to need a HUGE off-season to prepare for some key early tests. That said, talent will absolutely not be the issue.

QB: JT Barrett (Jr) -- Joey Burrow (rFr) OR Torrance Gibson (rFr)
RB: Mike Weber (rFr) OR Curtis Samuel (Jr) -- Brionte Dunn (Sr) -- Antonio Williams (Fr)

XWR: Corey Smith (6Sr) -- KJ Hill (rFr) -- Torrance Gibson (rFr)
YWR: Noah Brown (rSo) -- Parris Campbell (rSo) -- Austin Mack (Fr) -- Terry McLauren (rSo)
HWR: Curtis Samuel (Sr) OR DeMario McCall (Fr) -- Dontre Wilson (Sr)

TE: Marcus Baugh (rJr) -- Rashod Berry (rFr) OR AJ Alexander (rFr) -- Jake Hausmann (Fr)

LT: Jamarco Jones (Jr)
LG: Billy Price (rJr) -- Demetrius Knox (rSo)
C: Patrick Elfein (Sr) -- Brady Taylor (rSo)
RG: Evan Lisle (rJr) OR Demetrius Knox (rSo) -- Matt Burrell (rFr)
RT: Isaiah Prince (So) -- Brandon Bowen (rFr) OR Kevin Feder (rFr) OR Grant Schmidt (rFr)

Likely only four senior letter winners in that group.

Reminds me alot of last year. If Meyer can get that team to gel under a coaching staff that seemingly worked out some logistical difficulties by year's end?

Could be something to watch.

Most underrated aspect of next year's offense is replacing Vannett's blocking.

Defensive side, excited to see if Jerome Baker starts...I seem to remember a lot of good things were said about him during camp. Cousin of one of my better friends and was one of our ball boys in NTYF when he was real little, so it would be surreal to watch him play a major role.

This is more 2016 related, but was looking at schedules for next year... how the hell does Michigan get 8 out of 12 games at home? And their 3 non-conference opponents are Colorado, UCF, and Hawaii. Yet these assholes had the nerve to make jokes about us playing Cal, VaTech, and some mid-major teams the past few years.

Also, the SEC needs to join the rest of the country in playing 9 conference and 3 non-conference games. Starting next year they will be the only power conference that doesn't. And your national champion Alabama is playing Chattanooga (usual FCS cupcake), Kent State (might as well be FCS the past few years), Western Kentucky (solid mid major, but losing their star QB Doughty), and USC (hard to predict with them).

Ohio State will be challenged for sure next year, with 10 games against teams who made bowl games this year, and 6 who had 10+ wins. Although one of those is BGSU and they are losing pretty much everyone from the coaching staff to their impact players (Matt Johnson, Roger Lewis, Travis Green, etc.) Tulsa is a feisty mid-major on the upswing and Oklahoma, is well, Oklahoma. A good team coming off a playoff appearance.

Osu has had 8 home games many many times.

Just gotta take care of our own business and everything will play out.

Alabama isn't exactly a cake walk. Their non conference? Sure. But they play against USC who will be better this year, at a neutral site. And @ Ole Miss, Tenn & LSU. Just gotta have them lose a game and then they get the same treatment that we did. You are defending champs? Lose 1 game and you are fucked.

Next year they play FSU as well.

Now let me go throw up b/c it looks like I am defending Bama :puke:

If Bama wins in Baton Rouge next year they should earn a spot.

That LSU team is going to be insanely good.

Unless they luck out again by Ole Miss (or whoever they lose to in the future) dropping a couple games..

Per some reports on Twitter, it sounds as though there's going to be some restructuring among the OSU coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball.

TE/FB coach Tim Hinton will transition to an administrative role, Ed Warinner will drop his OL coach duties and add Hinton's old roles to his current OC title, and Greg Studrawa will be hired to coach the OL. Studrawa is a Fostoria native, BG alum and a former staffer with Meyer at BG.

Also, it appears as though Tim Beck will remain as QB coach.

It's official. I am a fan of the move. We definitely saw an attrition at O-line in the beginning of the season most likely due to Warriner's expanded role. Not a knock on him. Attention to detail and consistent routines are key on championship teams. This keeps Warriner in the press box, where he shined. I Like!
