2015 Game #1 -|- #1 Ohio State vs. Virginia Tech -|- September 7th, 2015 @ 8:00 PM

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't get the logic behind making Cardale throw a ton of short passes to the RB's and run the option. If that's the game plan, Barrett is the better QB. Need to work in the run first and keep testing the man to man at all levels of the field with Cardale's arm.
This is what I keep saying. There is no point in using Cardale if you aren't going to let him utilize his strengths. He has a killer arm that lends itself to medium and long-range passes. He also is a physical behemoth so he can run the ball, but that should not be the primary option. Additionally, Zeke is a great pass catcher, but his strength is running up the middle. Stupid fucking gameplan so far. The first three drives were all great but afterwards it has been awful.

Yea, all the times Cardale has run the ball, you have to wonder why it's not Barrett playing?

Ohio State will still win by 3 TDs. That was just some shitty coaching in the first half. Some brain farts too. I hope they're awake now and realize the game is being played.

They will win but no way will it be by 3 TDs lol.

Well I still think Cardale is the better quarterback if you play a gameplan that lets him utilize his strengths (see Wisconsin and Alabama games specifically). If Urban is going to stick to how he wants his system to run though, with no exception, than he really should start Barrett. To me, though, that decision is mind boggling. If the system can't be adjusted by coaches we'll be in trouble long-term.

Well, no, we'll only be in trouble if they don't play Barrett. If he wants his system run, then put in the other guy.

I meant longer term than just this season. You won't always have a quarterback as perfect for this spread offense as Barrett. If you can't win with Cardale because of your system, the problem isn't the quarterback, it's the system.

EDIT: if the system is inflexible enough to make a better QB look worse than that is extremely problematic.

I think Urban's track record is more than proven at this point to not give anyone cause to worry about the long-term.

Love to see Jhonny Dixon and someone else as a punt returner.

Gotta score coming out the gate this half

One of the funniest thing differences to me between American and European sports is this type of statement. Not saying you are wrong, but in both soccer and rugby, coaches aren't viewed as gods because they've won multiple titles. When other teams find weaknesses with the systems and exploit them than the coach/manager usually gets fired.

So, for example, some of my friends who went to England for college and became engrained in life their always told me that Tressel would have never been around as long as he was.

Now, to your point, obviously Meyer is better than Tressel and maybe he does deserve unrelenting support and trust (I am rushing here because the game started, I don't mean this how it sounds). I don't believe that, but heck, it does make sense. Meyer is a fucking champion.

THAT'S MORE LIKE IT! Keep running Cardale over the middle instead of on the edges, and test the man coverage downfield.

No penalties, no blown coverages, defense. Take over the game.
