2015 Game #3 -|- #1 Ohio State vs. Northern Illinois -|- September 19th, 2015 @ 3:30 PM

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kinda agree with Mack Brown there.

OSU feels a bit like FSU last year.

Michigan State should be ranked ahead of us and whoever wins the Ole Miss and Alabama game should be ranked ahead of us. Offense looks completely lost.

Motherfuck that was a joke. Urban needs to pick a QB and stick with him no matter what.

Ahhh...sounds exactly like what was being said 3 weeks in last year too...

I don't know what you're going for here. Last year was last year. No one said they can't or won't improve. But right now they are a pretty big disappointment. Do you disagree with that? Do you think they are as good as they should be? Was that performance today acceptable?

Auburn fell from 6 to 18 after their near loss against Jacksonville State.

I don't think we fall that much given that NIU is a better team and we didn't need to go to overtime.

But falling a couple spots might be pretty realistic.

I'm not going for anything...just thought it was funny to see the same shit being said a year later.

And of course they've been disappointing. But I'm never going to sit here and definitively say "we have no good QBs" or "our offensive coordinator sucks" 3 weeks in...I don't want that cake on my face when the chickens come home to roost...

The play-calling can and hopefully will improve, but so far it's been bad. The QBs can and hopefully will improve, but so far they've been bad. I don't see the problem in saying these things...

See, I don't have an issue with that. I do have an issue with the whole "we had 3 good QBs, now we have 0 good QBs" 3 weeks in...I guess I just still have your posting history from a few years ago on my mind, creating a nice grain of salt, when you so vehemently wanted the entire defensive staff gone and said Urban was losing it...we have all seen how that's worked out...you just seem like a very negative, glass half empty guy.

I don't really give a shit about rankings. Just keep finding ways to improve week by week and make the committee believe you're one of the four best teams in the country. That's it.

At the current position this team is in, I couldn't give less of a damn about rankings.

If we win out, we're in. We lose one game along the way, we're out. Simple as that really.

I feel like the coaching staff is looking for the big plays that was a signature of the team late last season. They need to take a step back and build the offense back up with easy 4-5 yard plays. If that's running the ball with Zeke or just quick passes to WRs or H-backs.

My thoughts:

For starters, NIU is good. I tried telling people this...you don't win 11+ games for 5 straight seasons by accident. Honestly, that's a top 3 opponent on our schedule this year.

The defense...wow. I knew this defense was going to be good, but I didn't think they'd be carrying the team. Quite possibly the best defense we've had since...shit, probably 2005.

The offense though...holy mother of Christ. The QB play and the playcalling have been dreadful. I'm not sure if the overall struggle is due to the QB competition, the new OC, or both, but goddamn.

It is time to give JT all the 1st team reps this week and see what he and the offense can do starting the game next Saturday.

I think offensively the QB competition has hurt but also all the change in position and roles by the skill players on offense. Wilson and Marshall are being ask to be less hybrids and more WR. Braxton and Samuel both switching to hybrids. Vannett being the lone TE to step up. Paris Campbell having to step up because of injury. Add those to split reps by the QBs, timing is definitely off. Elliot is the only player with the same role, maybe Michael Thomas too but I think they expanded what he has been doing.
