2015 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's always going to strike out a ton, but he'll walk quite a bit too. He's a notorious deep count hitter....

Yes he is...but he isn't getting those walks right now. He's going to adjust, he's too good not to. But it's still good to see that the slugging is still there when he is struggling a bit at the plate, as is the stolen bases and good base running in general. Probably the toughest 20 game stretch he has gone through since he's been drafted, and he is still able to produce in other areas, which is good to see for when he goes through the ups and downs of a 162 game season.

Abraham Almonte started in CF last night and went 1-4 with a triple, a walk, and 2 runs scored. He also threw a guy out at the plate.

Shawn Armstrong got save #14 (15 opportunities), striking out 4 in 2 IP (1 hit). He now has a 2.25 ERA with 69 K's in 44 IP. He's allowed 2 ER in his last 24 IP.

So file this one away for a little bit but some of the National writers are making their way out to Arizona to crosscheck some of the guys popping up in the AZL. Gabriel Mejia was ranked the #1 player in the league by John Sickels site and confirmed by ESPN's Eric Longenhagen as a "dude"-- liked Wakamatsu, not so much on Hillman.

1. OF Gabriel Mejia (AZL Indians) - Gabriel Mejia is hands down the best prospect in the AZL in 2015. This kid leads in several statistical categories including Hits, Runs, Stolen Bases, and .AVG. In addition, Mejia is a switch hitter, a year younger than the average player in the AZL and has yet to make an error in center field. He stole 72 bases and .335 in 2014 with the DSL Indians. This year through 32 GP: 32 R, 49 H/126 AB, 6 2B, 14 RBI, 18 BB, 30/38 SB, with a slash line of .389/.466/.452. Mejia turned 20 about a week ago and should be promoted soon, if he continues to hit near .400 and rack up the stolen bases. Mejia was signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2013.

Nellie Rodriguez (.275 17 83) went deep for Lynchburg.

Bobby Bradley (.256 20 68) did the same for Lake County.

Bobby Bradley is that dude. Definitely going to catch a few more LC games. 20 hr 68 rbi and a .860 ops , his average could be better but his swing is pretty damn good. He will grow into a great pro ball player I hope.

I haven't been this excited for Indians prospects in a long time, from top to bottom we have great players in their own right? It just has to translate to the show.

The future is bright, only sad part in all of this is that Kip and Brantley will be like 32-33 when the youngsters are shining, hopefully they're still here.

What would be the lineup of the future?

Kipnis
Lindor
Brantley
Frazier
Zimmer
Gomes? Is he the catcher of the future or the DH
Bradley
Gio
DH?

Nellie Rodriguez with his 32nd double and 84th RBI as well today.

b00bie should be happy to hear that Yandy Diaz hit another HR...guy is developing into a legit prospect

Yandy Diaz developing any sort of power makes him a real deal infielder of the future.

the thought of Bradley, Zimmer, Rodriguez, Lindor, and Frazier in our future lineup is awesome

I've been on the Yandy train for forever yo. Still want to know if Yusniel Diaz is his brother. Might give the Tribe an 'in'.
