Brantley now hitting .320. The guy is on a tear. 1, 2, and 3 guys in the order are clearly set now and going forward, along with their positions they play.

Kipnis-Lidoz-Brantley is actually a really good top of the lineup.

Gomez and Urshela are set positions going forward.

That's 5 guys. The rest is up in the air going forward.

But the future is not too shabby. This team could be in contention next season.

I'd pencil in Urshela at 3B, but he's not nearly as locked into his spot as those first four.

Trying not to get sucked into believing we have a shot, but, its hard not too....

6.0 games back now.

Agreed. Lonnie has hit .364 in his last 15 games so I would think he is almost guaranteed to start at right next season.

Or not.

They were supposed to win the WS this year. I'll reserve my expectations at this point.

Eh. We're not that horrendous. This team is far from perfect, and they definitely need more pieces. Baseball is a tough sport to predict year after year who will be good, and who won't.

I agree. I don't think we'll be horrendous. But, can we be good enough?

We need some guys to step up and show up.

I think we can, whether we will or won't, I don't know. It's not like all four wheels on the vehicle need replaced.

Make some tweaks, and hope it's good enough in '16.

Yeah, I just don't see it happening.

The team clearly is talented enough, although they still lack power, their pitching staff alone should keep them within 5-6 games till the season ends.

But, this team has very odd streaks. Their too inconsistent. They will win 3, then lose the next 4.

Just isn't their year, but it's exciting to see some of the younger guys develop.

Right. I don't see it happening either. But, you just can't help yourself start believing there is a shot.

Now, 5.5 back....

Interesting article about Shapiro possibly leaving, which I think is a real possibility. Blue Jays have a $120M+ payroll and Indians $83M.

The last para. sums it up for Tribe fans. Dolan simply won't spend the bucks to get us a power hitter.

"No.5. In the end, could this simply be a paper move?

As good a leader as Shapiro is -- he is respected in the organization and throughout baseball – no matter who replaces him, the spending patterns of ownership are not going to change.

In other words, unless the new president finds a way to fill Progressive Field on a nightly basis without having a $120 million player payroll – drafting an overlooked Mike Trout-type player for six or seven years in a row is another option -- there is not going to be a big change with the Indians no matter who is sitting in the president's chair."
