2016 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So far Goff is on an Anthony Bennett career path...

All the greats start out last in the depth chart behind the likes of Case Keenum and Sean Mannion.

Gotta think they give in sooner rather than later with Goff. Maybe he just needs to get bigger before taking the inevitable beating of the NFL.

Jeff Fisher is a complete stubborn ass.

I expected nothing less from him. How he is still in charge of an NFL team is beyond me.

The funniest part is they've already announced he'll be the #2 in Week 2.

So, I don't really know what the fuck they're doing.

The PEDs don't kick in until then.

Hope the game slows down for Goff mentally. Developing quarterbacks is tough since college has more clear weaknesses for the QB to exploit and the athletes on defense just don't move as fast. Some QBs pick it up quicker than others. Some never pick it up. It's all an inexact science and a crapshoot. I think it's way too early to get worked up about rookie QBs. Once the offseason hits, even the best rookies will have positives and negatives to analyze.

Would anyone do a quick recap of how our draft picks from this past year have looked? Work and being on a different coast hasn't allowed me to watch more than a little of the browns from this year.

My thoughts:

C. Coleman- Seemed to show a lot in training camp. Even the normal negative media members were giving him praise. Looked good in the beginning of the season. No doubt the injury (missed like 6 weeks) and musical chairs with QB has hindered development. Needs to improve hands and put on some pounds though. Doesn't look much bigger than Hawk. Need to see more and I expect to see more next year.

E. Ogbah - Probably the most impressive of the class. Top 20 overall rookie? I didn't notice him much when he was playing LB (although he was graded well by PFF), but he seems more productive at DE.

C. Nassib- Nassib looked good in the preseason and early in the year as well. Same situation as Coleman though. Broken hand has set him back and he needs to add some weight.

S. Coleman - Don't really have much to say. He hasn't been active more than 1 game this season and might not have gotten on the field at all as far as I know. Some say its a "redshirt" year which I don't really get. Coleman is supposed to be good and even if Pasztor is playing better now, he wasn't playing great in the beginning of the season.

C. Kessler - Prob the most surprising pick of the draft. Most say overdrafted. Looked horrible during preseason IMO, but came in and looks like at worst, a solid backup. Some think he could be the guy. I lean towards no, but we haven't seen him attempt to open up the offense which makes it hard to judge. Has statistically put up equal or better stats than Goff and Wentz I believe. He was right there with Wentz and Dak earlier in the season.

J. Schobert - Meh. Can't see him being anymore than the special teams player. Had a decent amount of time at LB in the season. Think he even started a few games, but seemed largely unproductive.

S. DeValve - I like DeValve. Has gotten more run later in the season and seems to get open and catch the ball when it is thrown to him. I'd imagine he needs to put on a little weight and improve run blocking if he wants to be Barndige's heir opponent (which may be needed soon).

R. Louis - Draft analysis seems spot on with him. Great athlete that can't catch. Had a lot more opportunity earlier in the year at WR, but couldn't catch the ball consistently. I always notice him on special teams so that seems like a plus. Could be a pretty good player IMO if he could catch. He got open a lot when he had the opportunity.

D. Kindred - Showed some flashes, but was a little inconsistent. Believe he is on IR now. Being a starter is still a possibility in the future IMO.

J. Payton - Does nothing for me. By far most disappointing rookie WR. Heard nothing in camp/pre season/reg season. Inactive most weeks. Was also suspended for drugs. I don't see him making the 53 man next season and just wish the Browns would cut bait now actually.

S. Drango - He is normal starter at LG now with injuries. Has had some bad plays but seems like at depth guy at worst.

R. Higgins - Hollywood seems entrenched at the #4 wideout right now. Pretty unproductive, but catches the ball when it is thrown to him. May be the athleticism knock on him, or it may be because he is the #4 WR. Still worth developing IMO.

T. Caldwell - I think he was active for the first time last week. Wouldn't expect him to be on the team next season.

S Wright III - Gone. Cardinals claimed him off of practice squad last week.

Would anyone do a quick recap of how our draft picks from this past year have looked? Work and being on a different coast hasn't allowed me to watch more than a little of the browns from this year.

C. Coleman: Missed 6 games with a broken hand that hindered his progress, but extrapolate his numbers over 16 games and he's at 48 REC, 637 YDS and 5 TDs. Not bad for a raw kid in terms of route running and reading coverage. The carousel at QB certainly didn't help, but clearly a lot of talent there.

Ogbah: Started out at OLB, but that didn't really take. Really settled in as a hand on the ground DE. Leads the team with 5.5 sacks and 16 hurries. A lot of upside.

Nassib: Started out excellent, getting pressure in the sub packages and showing a knack for batting passes at the LOS in the preseason and into the regular. Broke his hand, missed a few games and has been pretty bad/invisible since he came back.

S. Coleman: Essentially a redshirt year. Missed most of the offseason recovering from MCL surgery. Has played in six games as a reserve lineman, usually as a third tackle/third TE in jumbo formations.

Kessler: He has NFL caliber accuracy. Arm strength is an issue, but a much bigger concern to me is how painfully slow he is processing information unfolding in front of him. He essentially sacked himself countless times this year through general unawareness in the pocket. A lot of that is inexperience, but he struggled with this in college too so it's not exactly a new issue. If he's able to clean that up, the arm strength will be less of an issue and he could develop be an NFL starter. As of now, he's a competent backup.

Schobert: Hasn't really done a whole lot in the base defense. Has played a lot on special teams.

Louis: Got a lot of playing time when Coleman went down and looked better than expected in that stretch, but has barely played WR since Coleman returned. Does play on special teams as a gunner.

Kindred: Got an opportunity to play a good amount of snaps at safety where he's made five starts. Was progressing pretty well for a 4th round rookie before he snapped an ankle training on his own during the bye week.

DeValve: Another guy behind the 8 ball from a preseason/camp injury. Not sure if he'll ever been much of a blocker, but has flashes some of that mismatch potential with a couple of 20+ yard catches.

Payton: Basically nothing. Was inactive most of the year, then got popped for PEDs late in the season. Finished with extremely limited playing time and 1 catch total.

Drango: Probably played a lot more than the team would have hoped, but such is life when both starting guards go down for the season. Likely going to finish with eight starts at left guard. Mixed results as to be expected for a 5th rounder.

Higgins: Active for every game, but not a lot of run. 6 catches on the year.

Caldwell: On the practice squad all year until Week 16, injured a hammy during the game and probably won't play the finale.

Wright III: On the practice squad for most of the year. Signed by Arizona late in the season.

Good reports on the guys so far, but it's unfortunate that seemingly none of these guys has established themselves as a sure fire player moving forward.

Coleman and Ogbah have flashed, but I've seen nothing thus far that leads me to believe they're safe bets to overachieve their draft slot.
