2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow, Grizz-Hornets after 3Q is a familiar score for those of us who lived through the Cavs' 2010s dark ages.

This Leonard situation is getting to be really odd to me. at first I thought people were sensationalizing in the media but I dunno
I want to know what is going on. What appeared to be one of the most well mannered players in the league is butting heads with the most stable franchise in sports.

Dwight Howard goes for 32-30 yesterday.
Today, Kemba goes off for 46 points in 28 minutes, while making 10 three pointers.

Fun times in Charlotte.

Could he be like KD? I remember people said he was this real "humble" superstar because he didn't talk, but then once he got to Golden State we found out that he's a real douche. Maybe this is the same.

Don't know if anyone saw this story, but Zeke Upshaw collapsed on the court for Grand Rapids G-League team. After being rushed to the hospital, he tragically passed away. Still unsure of what exactly happened, my guess is enlarged heart, but we'll probably find out soon.

I bring this up because it only reinforces the fact that Chris Bosh is never going to play in the league again.

Philly wins again. Cavs really might have to win out to hold onto that third seed.

Not sure what's funny about this?

Philly is a game back and has the following closing stretch:

vs. NYK
@ ATL
@ CHA
vs. BRK
@ DET
vs. CLE
vs. DAL
@ ATL
vs. MIL

They legitimately could win every game.

Philly is a team on the move, upward that is. They plan to win 50 so says Embiid. I see Fultz had a reasonable first game back. Plan on fourth for us. That's what we get for all the unexplained losses. I'm on our side but lets face it.

Cavs own the tiebreak no matter what, I think. Even if the season series ends up tied 2-2, Cavs have the better conference record.

:chuckle:

It's funny because you're way, way too concerned about this.

But, I'll jump down the rabbit hole with you for a minute....

We have a one game lead with one game left against Philly.

If we win that game, we win the tiebreaker (3-1 vs Philly on the year).
If we lose that game, we tie Philly on the year (2-2) but we still win the tiebreaker if we win our division.

Head to head results between two teams with the same regular-season record will become the first criterion. If two teams tied during the season, then whichever team won its division will be given the higher seed.

I think, chances are pretty good we win the tiebreaker one way or the other. So, our lead is more like 2 games instead of 1. Additionally, if we beat Philly in that H2H game, that essentially gives us a 3 game lead.

Our guys are starting to come back, LeBron has started turning it up a notch and Love has been killing it.

I like our chances to hold onto the 3 seed, not that it's very important or anything.

Yeah, Cavs own it since the tiebreaker between the two would be who won their division (at least, according to Lowe), so the Cavs have to go 8-1, or 7-2 if one of those wins is against Philly.

Yes, I'm aware of the tiebreaker as I posted above. And I disagree on it not mattering. I think it matters quite a bit. There's a huge difference between playing Toronto and a banged up Boston team (or whoever beats them if they can't overcome the loss of Kyrie) in the 2nd round.

And if you land third, and someone beats Toronto before the ECF? Guaranteed home court. That matters.

Oh yeah, I always forget the order of the tiebreaker rules. In any case, Cavs don't have to win out to clinch the 3 seed.

Obviously they don't HAVE to win out. That was a slight exaggeration on my part. But based on Philly's schedule, they'll probably have to go 8-1 or 7-2
