next few months? why the wait
These are millions of dollars they are going to be fighting over. I'm sure Wade wants to get as much as he can from the Bulls. Bulls also know Wade is probably desperate to leave and join a contender.

Just hope we get him by the start of the season. Would be great if we got him by training camp.

next few months? why the wait
1. Money. They're not going to pay him a ton to play an entire season with CLE

2. Illusion of competing. Even though everyone knows it's a full rebuild, they'll let the first two months develop in the off chance that they actually have a decent record and entice the fans to buy in financially as much as possible

3. Necessity. Zach LaVine is out until early December. Until that point, it makes sense to pay Wade to start, mentor the young guys, and out on a "happy" face for the hometown crowd. The minute LaVine is healthy and ready for full workload, he'll get inserted as GS starring SG and the Wade buyout process will move into full gear

Do you start Wade if he comes to the Cavs?
Not only do I believe that Wade will not come here regardless, but starting his old, decrepit ass on a team with championship aspirations is just a horrible idea.

The more money Wade wants (and he wants all of it- he can care less if they don't move him), the longer it will drag on with him.

If a team signs him for say, 5 Mil, does that offset what the Bulls owe? If not, there is ZERO guarantee he comes to CLE. Wade likes his money, hes not giving up a dime.

sorry..don't wade. Cavs must assume that LBJ is leaving after the year. If they do not, the franchise will be shit for 10 years. The best team to trade with IMO is Boston, they have the most assets and the depth of young players like Thomas, Crowder one more young player and a draft choice. Use shumpert or whoever to make salaries stand up

Not only does it give us something to start with when lbj leaves it also doesnt mean we still cant beat Boston to get to the finals next year. beating GS is another issue but we arent as constructed now anyway.....get as many good young players now as possible.

Placating LBJ with older vets like wade and melo will destroy this franchise for years. Lebron is gone....relationship with gilbert is just too bad. Gilbert gave him a opening to leave. Lakers are up and coming, have the location and the money next year. Probably better for LBJ to face GS in the WC finals then the NBA finals

I believe it does...they would negotiate the buyout in terms of what the market will pay him. i.e. 5 mill...thus Wade would settle for 19M ish

Could someone help me understand why teams wait so late into the season (typically after the trade deadline) to waive/buyout a player? In the case of veterans who you know will not be in your rotation and thus will not perform up to the value of their contract, then what's the incentive? Any incentive other than mentoring?

Maybe he is staying now that him and LeBron are talking?

Hope so

Trade deadline. They will want to try and trade the player before buying them out. Remember Joe Johnson a few years ago? Wade will be in those shoes.

They wouldn't be giving up anything for Wade, they would sign him as a free agent once he clears waivers. It would be similar to the Rose signing...low risk / high reward.

Pretty obvious, why didn't I think of that? Thanks!
