Can we just start a thread outside of this one where the baboons can discuss their "Is Kyrie overrated?", "Kyrie sucks!" arguments elsewhere?

I'm not going to be able to reply your whole post. Not yet anyway but what stood out to me is you disputing my statement that Lowry at one point last season made an appearance in MVP discussions. Which is different from saying he was ever a serious contender. You're coming across as that guy who impulsively wants to win every issue of every argument without trying to understand what is being discussed

Lowry, who started his second consecutive all-star game this season, received one fourth-place vote and three fifth-place votes, which put him 10th in voting.

"Game by game, Lowry works his way into MVP chatter"

Once again, you do realise I'm not saying Lowry is better right?

I didn't even know MVP voting went 10 deep.

:chuckle:

Learn something new every day, I suppose.

If he was never a serious contender, then why offer this as an accolade?

You're coming across as that guy who impulsively wants to win every issue of every argument without trying to understand what is being discussed

I understand what you're trying to say... The problem is that you seem to want to debate both sides of the argument and assume I must not understand you..

I understand you. I assert that you're wrong.

Let's just argue on the merits without you trying to read my mind or appeal to my motive, shall we?

Let's discuss reality, shall we:

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry became the NBA's first unanimous Most Valuable Player on Tuesday, winning the award for a second straight season.

Curry, 28, swept all 131 first-place votes, including 130 from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters and one from the Kia MVP fan vote. San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard was second in the voting, followed by Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James.

Kyle Lowry received 1 4th place vote, and 3 5th place votes.

No one with a ballot put him in the top 3 of consideration.

He was not now or ever a dark horse for the MVP.

That's nonsensical hype.

Once again, you do realise I'm not saying Lowry is better right?

Yep...

Time to move this to another thread. Just tag me if you want to debate, whatever it is we're debating... Rather not get banned for going off-topic.

"Game by game, Lowry works his way into MVP chatter"

Once again, you do realise I'm not saying Lowry is better right?

Why are you referencing a bunch of meaningless links? :chuckle:

Well, Toronto was second in the standings in the East. Given he is their best player, it would be nearly impossible to not enter the top-10 MVP discussion.

And if anything, the fact he was so low speaks to no one really being that high on Lowry.

Kyrie missed a significant amount of time, and had a tough regular season.

So many are missing the point. Kyrie's low floor is still in the discussion of being better than Lowry. This season was his low floor. Kyrie's high floor blisters Lowry into pieces.

Lowry doesn't have 1/5th the talent Kyrie does. You ask any GM who they'd rather have, they'd probably all take Kyrie. Outside Philly, because they are probably that stupid.

Yeah not worth it. I'm really just trying to say that the Lowry dude is really underrated and a comparison to Kyrie wouldn't get me offended. We agree Kyrie is better anyway

Lowry was never anywhere close to being MVP. It's kinda laughable to even reference those links. Being in the top-10, at one point of the year, is pretty meaningless.

Fair enough.

Kyrie is such a polarizing player.. Not a great playmaker but not tall enough to be an off guard.. He's a great offensive talent and the cavs have played to his strength (rightfully so)..

I couldnt careless what tier he's in or who's better.. This guy just helped us get the championship and shot the game winning basket against the unanimous mvp!

He might not be the top guard in the nba according to critics but he's the best guard the cavs have, and that's all that matters..

Jesus fuck, this dude is probably my favorite player and every time I look into his thread, it just drives me to drink

I deleted some posts that were focused far more on other players/teams/issues than on Kyrie.

I think debates about Kyrie vs. some other player(s) are fine in this thread, although I encourage posters to consider starting new devoted threads on those topics.

LeBron-Kyrie Partnership Has All the Potential, and Risks, of Shaq-Kobe Alliance

Kevin Ding said:
CLEVELAND — The goal was to create a cold-blooded monster.

And now the Cleveland Cavaliers are NBA champions because of it.

Kyrie Irving dared to take and make that winning shot during Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, acing the ultimate final exam in his "Mamba Mentality" graduate course. It was a class Tyronn Lue, upon becoming the Cavs head coach, had demanded Irving take.

"I told him, 'You want to have a Kobe mentality?'" Lue recalled to Bleacher Report. "'Kobe didn't give a f--k. He don't care. Whatever the outside is saying, he don't care. Kobe's going to be Kobe.'"
