I didn't see the all star thread until now but you're absolutely rightDon't disrespect Kyrie by talking about the clankbrothers in his thread!
You nailed it. No way in hell Kyrie truly believes the earth is flat. He's playing with pop culture and viral media because he's trying to prove a point how ridiculous and out of whack people's focus and attention is.Guys...
Please, please, please don't miss the point on how genius what the Cavs are doing to the media is.
Watch Kyrie's interview and then watch LeBron's quick clip asking Kyrie "The Earth is flat, right?"
Fucking awesome. There is a part during the interview where Kyrie very quickly says "it's scientifically impossible for it to be right..."
He knows goddamn well that the earth is round and he's exposing to you what the 24 hour news cycle has turned into, particularly as relates to sports.
I don't know who's idea this was. Maybe it was Kyrie. Maybe it was LeBron. Maybe it was RJ. Doesn't matter. But they're seizing on a moment in a time where the media is at it's absolute worst, with Trump's presidency bringing it all to a climax, and turning it against itself.
Really tremendous stuff.
Those of you getting caught up arguing with each other about politics and what science is and fuck all are completely missing the goddamn point.

He's saying it is a ridiculous proposition, and that is is intrinsically wrong that an off hand statement questioning the most provable of facts can blow up into a big story because of the relationship between media and the cult of celebrity.
I think he and all the other Cavs players see the ridiculousness of the bubble they live in, and they like to fuck with perceptions and rock the boat a little.
That is all this is about.
I guess I just don't understand why it matters. One of my best friends probably would have a hard time telling you what 7 times 2 is. He isn't very school smart. At the same time he is very likely the most handy man I know who would make most scholars look like an illiterate around a car. Also one of the best work ethics and all around good guys I've ever met. I just don't understand why I should care if someone isn't book smart. Or if they're a scientologist. Or if they're an atheist. Or if they believe something really stupid. If they constantly tried to convert me to their belief of the earth being flat I'd get irritated, but I just don't understand why this matters at all
Unless someone thinks that Chance the Rapper isn't straight fire and thus has an irreparable wrong opinion I genuinely don't give a shit
Also as someone who trolls quite a bit in all aspects of life Kyrie is clearly trolling and it's pretty ironic that people are calling him stupid for his clear as day troll stance

NO.Steph Curry was the gag of the night. His shot was as flat as Taylor Swift's ass.
0-10!
They have major impact as role models. Not on all of us, but a lot of people are guided by media and celebrities.Okay, mad online alert.
Why do you care about an athletes beliefs? They have NO EFFECT ON YOU OR YOUR BELIEFS.

Drugs, alcohol, stupid, does it matter? You just don't want kids (or adults lol) copy stupid.
I believe this is a prank anyway.
I think the "earth is flat" theory is troll/prank by itself. I'm sure those "conspiracy theorists" selected the most obvious truth and tried to describe it as false just to draw attention. The whole thing just doesn't seem serious to me.
